K so i decided that America is a sinking ship so i am gonna move to Canada the first chance i get. I dont know where i want to move though. I was thinking somewhere in BC. suggestions? I want somewhere that has good skiing (powder) but still has park skiing near. also somewhere that has mountain biking and hiking and shit in the summer. something like the Colorado Rockies. Somewhere that still has a night life though. thanks for info

I am not gonna take some ski bum job and just ski and blaze all day haha. Obviously job availability will affect my decision but i just want to see what my options are for the future.

squamish, perfectly located in between whistler vancouver and vancouver island, and if im not mistaken fairly inexpensive real estate, (gotta be cheaper than whis or downtown)

No I mean working for the hill and living in staff sounds like an utterly miserable existence. I mean whether or not you can be happy living in Whiswhis depends on your job and what kind of person you are but at the very fucking least avoid that.

Most def Kelowna, the california of Canada

Whistler sounds like the tits and fits your description perfectly. Best mountain bike park in the world, huge fucking mountain, great all around, awesome place to be outdoors.

Until you find out that 80% if the town is made up of tourists and condo commmando's and there is nothing to do there besides the mountains

I live like 10 minute walk from that area! Kelowna is such a sick city! Big White is also pretty sick too! The lake is amazing as well! If you decide to move to kelowna, I could probably hook you up with a job as a cashier or something.

It's honestly exactly what he asked for if you read his description. He mentioned nothing about tourists. Plus, he may have intentions of opening a business that revolves around the hospitality or tourism industry.

You're plan sounds a bit far fetched but ok. Whistler isn't always the most realistic place to live if you want a proper career and sustainable living, yes there are jobs, but if you have specific career in mind and want affordable living look elsewhere else. And the pow is good in a sense that its deep, but its not rocky mountain light.

Lots of people in this thread are saying Kelowna, but personally I don't like it there that much, there is warm summer but the landscape itself isn't that nice IMO.

Vancouver has access to it all, hiking, skiing, biking and beaches. But its a big city, and VERY expensive.

Nelson and Vernon are two cities I'm considering settling down in eventually. I don't think there is much money to be made in Nelson, but Vernon has lots of old people which is good for me since I'm think of going in the Physio Therapy.

Look at Creston, Kimberly, Golden all have good skiing with more sustainable living than whistler.

Whistler is extremely expensive.

Kelowna is awesome.

IMO Vancouver sucks. Way too big of a city for my liking.

Nelson is awesome skiing.

Vernon, its meh. Downtown is a shithole compared to Kelowna.

I'll be honest I haven't spent that much time in Kelowna my sister lived there and have some family there. But the downtown scene seemed full of cha-chi douche bags, was I just misled?

Squamish! It's an average 40 minute drive to Whistler and around the same to Vancouver. There's plenty of buses if you don't want to drive. Squamish has some really good mountain biking and climbing. Kind of a shit hole at some points but it's cheaper than staying in Whis!

Please go to fucking canada. I can't stand when Americans hate on America you just have no idea how good you actually have it. But if its a sinking ship to you please dipset and get out of here.

This. OP will never move to Canada, probably a 15 year old kid still full of dreams and aspirations. This thread is useless, EVEN if you were ACTUALLY considering moving to Canada, like within the month, asking people where to move is pretty lame. Are your fellow NS members going to live with you? Chances are no, make your own dam decision, its your life, take responsibility, look into different places, DO RESEARCH and then maybe one day you can come to an educated response to your own question.

i work in lake louise, and live in staff housing. Couldn't get any better than that. I just started about a month ago, but most kids stay all year. Work at the ski hill or fairmont lake louise which is where I work and it is an unreal hotel. Skiing is crazy good, and there are things going on all year round. Great hiking/running/mountain biking in the summer.

Spot on with the downtown scene.

I think Revelstoke is going to start growing so perhaps by the time you can actually move up here Revvy might be a place to think about.

Classic American thinking they're the best and only "free" country in the world. The US is a shitshow, hows the debt goin?

There are no girls in Nelson though. Whereas there are lots in Kelowna. But its all preferences. Kelowna is a big city with skiing near by, where the places you named are ski towns. Nelson, kimberley, golden. Kimberley is a shit hole though and i could never imagine living there.

Same with Golden, i would always feel trapped
