Moving back east

There are definitely locals at Sunday River, but not many compared to some other Mountains in the state, it's mostly vacationers and weekend condo owners. Bethel is a pretty small town as well, a few bars but only a small grocery store and a rite aid (plus some touristy shops and stuff). Rumford is about 25 minutes away and is a bit bigger (it even has a walmart!) but isn't the best town. A lot of the NSer's at Sunday River are going to college out west this year too I think.

If I were you I'd try and land a place in Kingfield, Stratton, or Farmington. I go to school in Farmington myself, which is 45 mins from Sugarloaf (and 35ish from Saddleback if they are open this year). Kingfield (15 mins from Loaf) is about Bethel sized and stratton (5 mins from Loaf) a bit smaller, but idk I get a younger, more "west coast" vibe from those two. Plus Sugarloaf is a way radder mountain, the park is pretty decent and if you really want to you can just drive over to Sunday River for a day because they are on the same pass.

Because my family lives in maine, and im tryi g to go back to school and not just get drunk and smoke moles everyday? Skiing is skiing man, idgaf if its wt keystone, hood, montana, the east coast, ill still have fun

Saddleback and Sunday River have good tree skiing on pow days (not often though). The best days at saddleback we're when the top of the mountain was closed because it was puking as you can hike up the rest. If your in to backcountry I would recommend Mt. Washington and Tuckerman's ravine. Fun time and quite the scene in the spring. Also Jay Peak.
