So I have now the four 06 films mentioned in the title, So I decided to offer a comparing review to my fellow newschoolers'.

First, Ski Porn, one of the more popular films this year, When I first watched it I was not to impressed. It looked to have a few good segments (Jon Olssen, Candide Thovex, Adnreas Hatveit, and Andy Mahre) with the rest being just ok, with good skiing but not so good editing and there seemed to be absoulutly no flow to the movie. It also seemed that JP had way to long of a segment that seemed to have about 1/4 of the intire movie. However, each time I watched it again I liked it more and more. Definatly has some of the best skiing out of this years films and is very well rounded, including almost all aspects of freesking, with the skiers pushing the sport in all areas, It did seam to have less park skiing then War did. Also I would say that it does not have the best skiing in any particular area other then Andy Mahre's segment, and in park skiing. Corduroy had better bigmountain, simmilar urban and bigger features but not as good park skiing. [photo]play had much better editing (in my opinion), better or similar big mountan, and better uraban and BC booters. Show and prove had better urban skiing. Over all i would say that it is a strong movie but definatly not the best I have seen, It gets better the more you watch it, and has in my opinion the best two segments, (Jon, and Andy), If you are buying only one ski movie and want it to be well rounded this should be it out of the four I have seen, however If you are buing more then one this can drop down to about 3rd or 4th (expecting that lss, and anomaly will be better).

Corduroy, This movie had ok editing and it's flow was just a bit better then Ski Porn. All of the segments are strong however, and highlights incude the Creast brothers ripping up the big mountain, Also the Shasta booter's ball part 2 segments (3 of them) were good, And you watch Mike willson's helmit cam as he come in at 90+ mph. Again, like ski porn it had a good mix of skiing, with some truly great big mountain and some unique backcountry features. However the urban seemed lacking from what I remember of it. It is a good movie, and fun to watch, and I would say it should be on the list of movies you buy if you buy three or more. It could be a good single movie but I think Ski Porn and [photo]play would be a better use of your money.

Show and Prove, Honistly I went in to the movie with very low expectations, but I was still diapointed, the editing was the worst I have seen in a long time and it was 45% taner hall sking, 10% taner hall crying, 15% seth, 10% CR liying in a coma/rehab, and 20% every other rider. I do not think that the rehab sections with CR did not do justice to how hard it actualy would have been and shown how hard he worked, so it was almost as if they were a compleat wast. Cory vanular got about 1 minute of screen time, and the movie just did not hold itself together or my attention, I would frequently find myself wathcing people have sword fights in the beer guarden that was behind the screen instead of the movie. However the uraban was rediculusly good. but the best was in the trailer. On the plus side though there were to segments that I really enjoyed, Tanner/Skogen/Evan Raps, and Tanner/Seth's big mountain segment at the end. In my opinion Seth has a better segment in Show and Prove then he does in Ski Porn. So really there are 4 reasons why you would buy this movie: either you need to see a movie that is about Tanner Hall, you want to see seth rip it up for $30. You already own every other ski movie, or you really want to see what it looks like when some one is in a coma.

[photo]play: so far the best movie I have seen, good big mountain, great urban, great BC, great editing and the best music selection out of any of these four movies. Highlights include Wiley Miller, Riley Leboe, Justin Dorey and James Heim and TJ Schiller who has one of the best park segments this year, (blows away his segment in Ski Porn) However there are no B grade segments in this films. It features a good section of the Atomic team who kill it on everything. There is absolutly no reason why you should not bbuy this film, It is the Teady Bear Crisis of this year. The only draw back is that it is short, being just under 40min long. Buy far the best movie of the year that I have seen. Buy it.

So if an A is just straight up fucking amazing and and F is a compleat falure of a movie here is how I would rate these 4 movies.

Ski Porn: B, solid worth your money gets better the more you watch it

Corduroy: B+, definatly worth watching should be on your "to see list"

Show and Prove: D+/C-, Tanner and Seth's segment save it form an F.

[photo]play: A, No excuse not to buy it, could be movie of the year.

Show and Prove was good. We needed something fresh to watch in this industry. All of the other movies are the same.

Agree mostly. Show and prove has some rediculously good shots, and highlights Seth's Pemberton stuff. If you want Seth, get this movie. But then yeah, you have to deal with all the other bad editing and black and white cutscenes...

Photoplay is definently a great movie, loved it after I saw it and it just gets better with rewatching. The back 9 segments alone are worth you getting this movie.

[Photo]Play was definately the best movie this year, but to claim it as the "TBC of the year"? No way. TBC will never be matched.

Haha, I have to agree Tanaka. TBC will rule until Ostness comes out with something else. I wish he would do the Jon Olsson movie, that would be my instant favorite...

i have push and anomaly, and i actually think they are both really good. i know lots of people hate the slow-motion thing with msp, but they only have a couple shots of it and i thought it really gave the movie an interesting touch, seeing a close up of the rider's mechanics. anomaly just was amazing, period.
