Mouthguard for skiing?

i have a mouth guard on my helmet for slalom but not like a soccer mouth guard, and the helmet one already sucks enough. i feel like the soccer one would be cold and gross and u'd have to put it somewhere on the lift.
 
i think it'd be a good idea to have one if you're hitting a lot of rails or trying inverts. in 1242 there's a shot of anthony b crashing on some urban and spitting out a mouthguard.
 
i have one that I wear every now and then (depending on what I'm doing trick wise) I had a bad experience when I fell from a rail but my pole got stuck and my mouth hit the top of my pole, I almost knocked out my two front teeth, so if I'm trying something new or something I'm not quite comfortable in (especially on rails) I pop it in, but for the most part I don't wear it.

If you do plan on getting one, get a shockdoctor...they make one called "Gravity" which goes on the bottom jaw, it's more comfortable and you can talk with it, but it doesn't really protect the top teeth, but they make a lot of good mouthgaurds plus have insurance on it so if you do mess up your teeth they'll pay.
 
I dont wear one because i hate mouthguards they annoy the shit out of me but at times i feel like a should, there have been two times i land on flat slammed my jaw into my knee and cut open my tongue
 
i got my dentist to make me one fo this season....hit my chin on a rail twice last sesaon and kneed myself in the jaw after comin up a little short on a jump...didnt lose any teeth, but it sure shook me up
 
hey thats my mouth.... i am glad the picture did something for u... it took me a while to figure out, actually i broke and displaced my joint in my jaw about a 1/5 of a inch and fractured my jaw in 2 places this last spring break. And i am dumb but i wear one quite a bit, in jackson i usually rock a full face. But i think there are some impacts your jaws not gonna hold up against. Both times ive broken mine, that picture included was when my knee hit my face (avoid knuckles) haha.
 
i bit through my lip and my tongue on separate occasions last season, so now i wear one when i have any intention of skiing with any seriousness.
 
i feel like they wouldnt do much for normal park riding. maybe like gnarly bc and urban they would be nice though.
 
i mean, sure it would be nice to go everyone with full protection, but sometimes you just cant do that. just gotta hope you dont get hurt, but it happens. i wear a helmet and a spine protector just to let you know.
 
one of them saved my pearly teeth once. but they are super annoying. also they dont allow you to look over your shoulder when going switch
 
Mouthguards do not prevent concussions. Companies used to advertise that but studies showed they have no effect, so I don't think they can advertise it anymore.

On topic: After reading this thread I am most definatly investing in a shockdocker for this winter since Im on the west coast now sking way sicker mountains than what iv had access to. Im also thinking of getting that slytec or w/e spineprotecter, Taylor Felton uses one and I hear they are super confortable.
 
I've worn one in the past a little hitting bigger drops and when I'm trying new stuff inthe park. It's nice to have.

If you're getting one, don't just go out an buy one. Shockdoctor or otherwise, they're all pretty worthless. Get your dentist to make you a real one that fits.
