Mounting older Marker Barons

My pops is wanting to swap an old pair of Marker Barons that he currently skis on to his new pair of skis, but the shop tech at the big box store says that he cannot mount those due to liability/theyre outdated. Im not exactly sure what the excuse was, im hearing it second hand.

that sounds like a load of BS to me. Any shop tech care to comment?

I checked out markers binding book online to see if they had a idemnification list but couldnt find one.

I'd say best option would be to go to a ski specific shop. atleast there your pops will get a straight answer

Yup, already told him that... but he likes the $10 cheaper mounting price at the big box.

They are pretty mint if I remember correctly, and in my mind any binding less than 10 years old should not be on the indemnified list... so I'm pretty sure he is just getting sold on new bindings.

I'll try and figure this out over TG when I see him. Thanks for the input!

Sounds like bullshit. How long have they even made barons for? 5 years maybe. If it was a real shop telling you that I might be worried they tested them and failed, but yeah probably not at K-Mart sporting goods

Out of curiosity, which big box store? I can't think of anyone besides REI who would still mount skis ever since sports authority fizzled out.

It was Any Mountain I think. He ended up getting them mounted there, so he obviously misheard them.
