Mounting forward?

Ok so I wanna try this. I just got some revivals to play around on and I have griffons I'm gonna put on them. I want to mount these forward from center because I've heard it's more playful(and I've seen the pros do it before) just lemme know if you know anything about forward mounting and how far forward I should mount them. Thanks.

This thread comes up every so often, and I almost always give the same answer. So not wanting to break tradition, here you go.

The only benefits of mounting forward of center is enhanced switch riding and arguably easier tail grabbing. However of course by mounting forward of center, when you want to ride normally you're disadvantaged. The only time I would ever reccomend mounting forward of center is if your on a symmetrical ski, spending 100% of your skiing time in the park, and of that, 50% of the time, you'll be riding/landing switch.

I work in a ski shop and get asked this question almost every time I sell some skis to a true parkrat. I tell them one simple answer... Don't do it. The purpose of having more tip rather than tail is to make it easier to initiate turns. With a true twin tip ski, center mounting does the trick. Being that those skis are 100% symmetrical or a true twin, it will not be enjoyable. With a directional ski like that I'd say just mount it at center, I almost never use true twins (I have nothing against them, I just never end up buying them), and center mounting your ski will be as much playfulness as you need will still be rather responsive. Hope this helps!

Since you seem knowledgeable in this department, is riding a symmetrical ski better if its center mounted? I only own one park set up and they are directional and its center mounted and i do fine. But i was thinking of buying a new pair of park planks for next season and was wondering if something directional would be better or worse for me to center mount

I did it for a couple seasons, went as far as +4 or +5 on some skis.. It's fun and I enjoy having a lot of tail, it depends on what your skiing style is like and what you prefer really. Now I just center mount, but I'd say try it at least once and see how it feels.
