Mountains requiring passes for "Large" parks

Stratton does it, its a little 5 minute video then you just fill out some information.. i feel bad for some day skiers, but it does do something for liability probably. but they are starting to reuse them so you can use last years. pretty smart idea that may be looked down upon by dayskiers.

Main benefits:

1. Fewer gapers, so its less likely someone is going to get hurt hitting a feature they can't handle

2. Fewer gapers, so less snaking

3. Lower insurance costs, so better features.

They are awesome in theory. and at most mountains I'm sure. Kimberley got one the year they took out jumps, it sucks. An adult day ticket here is 18+, but you cannot sign your own park ticket waiver if you are 18 because you "aren't an adult".

It is the one of the many retarded things here that will lead to the demise of this ski hill.

i really wish all mountains would do that. my mountain needs one so bad.

the little kids in the park are fun sometimes though, i nose butter/tail tapp/back 3'd a little kid the other day on my way into a rail.

Camelback does it for everything in the park. they have a small progression park with three rails that doesnt require one, but it is free if you have a season pass and costs 10 bucks if not. we just watch the vid and sign the waiver, i think it is great because you need a park pass to get on the park lift= almost no lines. sadly the gapers still sneak in.

i like the idea at loon mtn where i ski there is a thing called a peeps pass.. it is not requireed to go into the park but i wish it was because then there would not be as much people that stand on the jumps and all the parents with there 3 year olds that snowplow up the jump then ruin the lip and snowplow all the snow off of the landing.

I think park passes are a great idea, but not just for people under 18, everyone, cuz even if your over 18 you can still be an idiot.

Yeah I wish they had one at my local mountain it pisses me off to no end when i get cut off by an 8 year old who barely makes it over the lip of the jump. The other day i was at my mountain and there was a ton of people there within 1 hour every feature was completely ruined!!!

I think it's fine for mountains to require watching a safety video to allow access to the park.

It's a private business, if you don't like it don't go there.

The resorts have every right to protect themselves and their customers.

starting this year you needed to pay $5, which is very reasonable considering they need to pay for the new stuff we have. i think its a good thing, all you had to do was fill out a waiver and you didn't have to watch a video if you were on file for it last year.

i think every mountain should do this, it would be better for liability, and the extra money spent on a park pass could be put into improving the park, and building new features.hopefully more resorts will start catching on

this....Breck does it right IMO - big ass jagged wooden fence for people to watch from and signs that say Freeway is one of the biggest parks in the country and that you can die. That keeps the gapes out
