As many of you know, I am a big sports car racing fan. I havent noticed any threads for motorsports for this season so i figured I would give it a shot. Motorsports fans can discuss what they are excited for and what they watched.

I am pretty on the ball with all forms of sports car racing and open wheel stuff, not too shit hot on stock car racing.

Here is a video for the WEC hype up for Aston Martin.

I would say I am most excited for WEC this year with Porsche coming back to the series with their new LMP1 and Toyota with their 1000 hp monster LMP1 car. The sports car racing in WEC is the best in the world IMO.

MotoGP is where it's at, first race was two weeks ago and was amazing. Formula D starts this weekend, pumped about that as well.

I am not a huge fan of drifting to be honest. Motogp is pretty cool, I watch it whenever I see its on but i dont make time to watch it. Bahrain is this weekend coming up, hopefully it is a bit exciting because the track is so god damn boring.

This is going to turn into a shitstorm of people arguing the different disciplines and why their preferred one is superior.

It's been tried and everyone always fucks it up.

bump!

both IndyCar and F1 have been great so far, with the exception of f1 sounding like dick.

actually looking forward to global rallycross, I think it could eventually turn into something awesome if they could just get some kinks worked out, take out the pointless "one at a time" jumps, work on making the courses a little more interesting, etc..

started watching f1 this year, didnt even realize that they dont have a race every single week so Im really starting from square 1

f1 has been ok. I dont really like how its become the Lewis Hamilton show.

Indy is ok as well, but it is such a weak series as far as talent goes.. i find myself questioning why I even watch it everytime its on.

TUDOR has been shit. Nascar style stewards for sport car racing can suck it.

WEC at silverstone was pretty epic, Love that Toyota first place.

Agreed about the Lewis show, mostly cause I really don't care for him as a person, hopefully Nico can start bringing it to him, a teammate battle like that would be awesome.

I'd argue indy has a deeper field of talent than f1, it seems to be where a lot of the talented guys from Europe are going when they run out of money. besides the top 10 or so in f1 the rest are pretty much just decent or average drivers with insanely deep pockets. And that's only getting worse. You can at least have a chance of making if in indy these days based on talent. Dixon, power, reay, castronevez, etc. and well over half the field, Those guy are all massively talented. I'd argue there's a larger differential in team performance than driver talent. And the racings been much better than f1 recently.

that is simply not true. Indy car racing field average less than 1/3 of drivers that have ever won any championships at any motorsports level while F1 has a single driver who has the same title.... who's father has a stake in the team he races for.

Eh its pretty irrelevant to compare a north american open wheel racing championship win to a european one. there are countless open wheel series in europe that have little competition and dont mean shit. where in north america you've got indy lights or back a little while ago formula atlantic. thats it where you come from if you want to race in IndyCar, so naturally you're going to have less champions when all the talent is focused into just a few series.

And discount the random one off's or partial season drivers and its well over 1/3 that have one championships..

a win in some regional formula renault 2.0 championship or random formula whatever asia championship isnt really significant.

see how many drivers in F1 actually won a significant championship like GP2, renault 3.5 or British F3, and the stats arent any more impressive.

Not denying that F1 isnt the PREMIERE open wheel series in the world, it definitely is. But IndyCar is in no way lacking in talent.

i hope ferrari gets their shit together in f1.

Alonso's podium last weekend shows promise! Massive update coming in Spain including nose, wings, floor, sidepods and software. They hope to gain 10-15 hp, which will be nice to see. (Source is an article that I cannot seem to find right now).

HHopefully Mercedes doesn't win every race, would be quite a boring championship.
