MOTM is dying

It seems like nowadays MOTM doesn't even really matter anymore, theres barely like 100 votes compared to like 250-300 like a few years ago. No more sponsors or really any prizes besides stickers. MOTM is dying, it needs to be revamped somehow. Thoughts?

Prizing is a big one... and that is my bad.

Would love to hear thoughts more from everyone on what could make this matter more.

Or I guess if you even give the slightest shit and we should just nuke it.

I guess if there's still anyone around anymore it's cool. But if it's just like "Pick somebody who's still here each month" it kind of seems pointless.

I mean it picks people who are actively posting and getting upvotes.

Any reason you haven't cared about it in he past when here was sweet prizing on the line?

I think i did care at the beginning. Idk if it was even the prizes. Just maybe there were more people posting. Idk. No real opinion on this

Personally lack of backing it I think is the issue. Half the people don't even know how to vote. There isn't anything that really gets it out there. Also lack of caring for a lot of members is one, doesn't get a lot of attention

I mean realistically we probably need the system to be more transparent (so you know what you have to do to earn points) and then a good prize on top of it.

Have the members elect the candidates. This would help a lot because every voting it is one person you see actively posting and four random jack asses. So sticky a thread in NSG and tally people votes for MOTM candidates then of the top 5 have them vote for MOTM. Something like that either way there's your good guide line and if iit doesn't work ya fucked it up.

Use my idea for mods but not MOTM.... ok
 
If were gonna stick to the old way voting and whatnot, there needs to be a mobile way to vote that is similar to the browsers version. By that I mean a voting poll that is visible while browsing. Otherwise nobody is gonna go out of their way to vote.

I know personally I used to use my laptop to browse NS, now its mostly on mobile or tablet, thus no easy way to vote like in browser.

Yeah fair enough. I think we're going to really re-visit MOTM. For now it'll stay the same, but we'll put it on deck for a total re-invention over the summer.

Back in the day if we gave transparency everyone just cheated... which is why we obfuscated it in the first place.

swandog said it, half the time i don't even know where to vote so i don't. I have done it in the past but i honestly don't feel like taking the time to look for the voting if i have only seen one of the members ever post on here

+1 for that idea

maybe have MOTM as a way to elect the finalists for MOTY? that way it would encourage posting throughout the year. that should also free up some resources to add more of an inscentive to get MOTY
