Eaglecrest, Ak. My home mountain has the biggest snowpack in the world. it is so sick last year we got like 70 inches this year 185 so far
 
I can't remember where it was but my teacher told me about some resort that had to dig out its lifts there was so much snow. I don't know if its true but that would be sweet if it was.
 
my mom worked at stratton in 1978 and she said they had to dig out the whole upper lift it was so deep.
 
right now baker is sitting at 181 inches at the base and 192 at the top. and its dumpin right now.

so not really.
 
the place if your teach is thinkin the same is me is mount baker on vancouver island. its either called mt baker or mt washington i always get em mixed up but in 2003 they had so much snow they had to close down the mountain. there was to much snow to run the lifts and they couldnt open for the rest of the season due to so much snow.

i think in ur original post you mean 700 inches...cause 70 isnt much at all. thats not much more for the average of where i live(albany ny), and we get much less snow then other places. parts of Alaska do average around 700 inches of snow a year tho. dont forget about places like chile n stuff too, they get a ton of snow.
 
yep it's mt washington, on vancouver island in BC Canada. mt baker is in washington state. kinda confusing i know. and I think it might have actually been during the 98-99 season that they had to close. as I recall, 2003 wasn't great for snow around here.
 
That happens at quite a few places. All it takes is either a lot of snow or a low lift and you have to dig it out.

Do you know what it is like to ski in over 23 feet of powder? Well, friends who are enjoying the winter season in South America could probably tell you. They just sent over some pictures of their powder day in Chile, over 23 feet of snow in one night. So much snow that the lifts were buried. Could you imagine? They did say that the season they have tends to reflect the season we receive in North America…Lets cross our fingers for the next 80 days (until the mountain opens) that we can enjoy a powder day that amazing. Enjoying the new Deep Temerity lift on a snow day like this - a new triple chair, which rises 1,700 vertical feet in 7.3 minutes and gives access to 180 acres of new advanced, expert and extreme terrain – would be amazing. Skiing Highlands bowl in Aspen, with that much snow would definitely constitute an epic flag day.
 
That would be at least 2 feet an HOUR!!??! Oh my god...I love Chile now. I'm going to try and confirm this...updates will follow as events warrant.
 
a couple years ago we had a total of 1200 inches fall over the course of the season, i know they had to groom under the chair very consistantly
 
In 2005, the year that blog was published, Valle Nevado received 9.73 meters of snow...about 32 feet. Unless they got 2/3 of their snow in one night, I'm going to doubt the 23 ft night is true. Still 383 inches of snow in a season is def. respectable. I'll go back to studying now....
 
Mt. Baker had 1140 inches of snowfall one season. Its the world record. Theres a sign on the side of the road on the way there that says it.
 
The affects of global warming dont necessarily mean its gonna get warmer. It means fucked up weather patters, which can be anything, cold snaps, shitloads of precipitation, you name it. So yeah, theres your global warming.

whistler already has 372inches this year and they havent posted thier feb numbers yet. and steamboat already has 229 inches, and according to www.skisite.com Mt baker has the deepest base 198inches, your eaglecrest resort is second @ 180 inches

claim!!!!!!!!!!

though my local mountain has only gotten 5 1/2 inches for the season so who am i to judge

 
Mt Baker has a bigger base then a bunch of places have as a season total, suck it. we may get over 1000 inches this year, I would not be suprised, been dry for a while though but it is starting to snow again and it usualy snows well into April so who knows
