Most pro skiers build small jumps

when it comes to backcountry booters, Sammy Carlson and Sean Pettit are the only pro skiers who consistently build respectably big jumps.

i think most other pros build backcountry kickers that are, on average, small and unimpressive.

compare the size of skier backcountry jumps to snowboarder backcountry jumps, and you'll see what i'm talking about. Sammy goes the distance - all other skiers' jumps are lame.

If that's what the people want then I'll start building bigger jumps on to these hand rails. Can't disappoint the populace.

hear that, fellas? if you're going out in the backcountry and not hitting at least 75 foot gaps, might as well stay home. no sense in having fun or anything like that

youre the aids of the ski community. skiers do whats fun for them, there is very little reward for going huge, its the same with competition skiing, fuck you

This is the solution. What's gnarlier then a rail with no lip? One with a lip 8 feet taller then the rail!

i think there are many exceptions, such as p white and chris logan

Its amazing you had the time to visit every BC jump that was hit last season!

Where did you find the time?

I agree with this. the Line team with Leo Tallifier(sp?) was at Alpental today, and built a jump that is something on the order of what i would build for my klutzy self.

Of course Leo spun a 3 off a 40 footer into shit snow as part of his run-in, but still!

AD is different - I would hardly call the stuff he hits "jumps". Most of the time, they are hardly bumps. Doesnt stop him from flying 60 feet though. Haha guy skis so fast, such a maniac

Beautiful. Such an accurate description of the way Delorme skis

These jumps were built 5-10 years ago and would still make the cut for ski movies today. Snowboarders do it way better in the backcountry.

jacob hyllengren builds the smallest jumps tho

It's possible that you watch more skiing content, and are exposed to a deeper pool of what skiers are doing. This means you see the top notch stuff you want more of, but it's diluted by less impressive skiing that only reaches you because you go digging for it. Unless you're really into snowboarding, you probably only see the top notch snowboarding and not much of the average riding.

Imagine if you watched every snowboarding clip from Jeremy Jones films to backyard edits, but were only exposed to big names like Sammy Carlson and Parker White. You might think skiers go bigger than snowboarders.
