Most electric lift in skiing?

Every mountain has their confidence booster line. Right under the lift, something to jump off of, and most importantly a shit ton of jerrys to go buck when they see someone skiing it. Nailing that line sends the lift riders into a frenzy as the skier rides away feeling a thousand times better about themselves.

So, what lift has the best energy when someone stomps a line under it / what lifts go bonkers when people throw tricks or drop cliffs in view?

Feel free to toss some personal stories in to spice things up.

Obviously not the best lift by far but lift line last year on a 2' pow day at smuggs was unreal. People were sending it like no tomorrow, idk even how some of them stomped their landings. Everyone skiing was yelling on the way down. The whole lift was hooting and hollering. Something I'll never forget. Definitely qualifies as electric imo.

Yo what's wrong with goin buck when someone's fuckin gettin it under the lift

obviously not the best but midwest skiers might relate. Can always get some good "yyeeewwws" under the main lift at bohemia. Snows great, couple natural kickers and cliffs right under the lift, and stoke is always high up there

I've got 2 stories from last season, both under MHX at Mt Hood Meadows.

First one was a March pow day. I was skiing some trees hitting a sick line, absolutely shredding. Then when I go to bust out under the chairlift at speed I hit a stump or a rock or some shit under the snow. So here I come out of nowhere tomahawking in one of my most spectacular ski wrecks ever.

Near the end of the season they have this big event called ReVegetate where they set up huge jumps under the lift and have a competition with proceeds benefiting reforestation efforts. The following weekend the jumps are still there and any homeboy can just hit them. I got a few cheers for sending it that day.

KT at Squaw for sure

yeah i don't think anything will beat KT in this regard. place is on fire some days

granite chief has some good spots too where the lift goes right by. the lift for the palisades isn't right over them but ive had days where that entire bowl was filled with people hooting and hollering. basically squaw was almost literally made for the vibe this thread is about and it shows, the place is unreal sometimes

ive had some great days under the lift at smuggs. in my experience the peanut gallery there is way more positive and inclusive than average

rather than a jeer or some mountain-kid shit talk, ive had people lean down from that chair and click poles with me then hoot as i continue my line. fuckin yeahhhh those are some good vibes

Only other spot that can remotely compete is Hot Dog at Alta between Collins/Wildcat lifts. I've seen some pretty fucked up stuff go down on that jump, namely: [tag=141711]@C_Stevenson[/tag] 's dub 10 last year to name one of the more recent things.

any video?

Waiting in the liftline at peak chair on a big pow day has to be one of the best. I've got so many great memories of watching send'er to flat on Air Jordan. I do not have great memories of Whistler on pow days though. Man, that place gets blown out.

10+ years ago the little resort I went to all the time as a kid (Angel Fire in Northern NM) had a pretty nice park and superpipe set up with its own lift to service them. They had massive PA speakers mounted to each tower and would blast music all day. I landed my first backflip to Fatboy Slim's Funk Soul Brother.

single chair at mad river is pretty wild, different experience being alone on the chair, you feel closer to the skiers below and there are a bunch of cool drops, pretty sweet atmosphere

Ballhooter lift at snowshoe , it’s technically out of bounds tho under the lift , there’s a 15’ bolder to drop off and if your not cruising there’s a large rock 20’ in front of it , people go bonkers when I’ve hit it , 1 it’s not in snow making area so it’s hardly ever skiable yet droppable , you need a spotter or risk killing someone there’s a perpendicular green trail few feet after landing at mach1

we also got a cool 20’ drop from a trail called gandy onto choker viewable from the powder ridge lift

Usually a pretty dead chair, but a few years ago I face planted super hard into a mogul under Aurora chair at Sunday River and a huge group of British exchange students went absolutely bananas

They were prob like now he has fuck up teeth like us

This is good for Pennsylvania. Rarely skiable and have a good chance of getting your pass taken if you do. Also our park is right under the lift which is real nice since you get entertainment while going up.

I ride at gunstock mountain and our park lift (pistol) goes over a massive day and night park called blundersmoke. I think it’s like 12 acres or some shit like that but it’s ludicrous how big it is especially for a park that’s open at night. Anyways, nobody really skis hard there minus about 8-10 people and the rest are jerries from Mass or Quebec so whenever our group does anything the kids and their parents go buck wild. Nickifresh and I did a train on the jump line last year, 5 to switch 1 to shifty 3. Real simple but everyone went insane. Def good vibes all around.

Definitely not the most electric, but when you grow up in the PNW, watching homies launch tye rock from the tye mill lift at Stevens was always mad hype

Stoke Chair at times on Revy, Peak Chair at Whistler though almost moreso the lift line than the lift itself. Also, of course, the old Catskinner chair on Blackcomb; it is still a travesty that they moved it.

Dude I know exactly what you're talking about. Never been there when conditions have enough coverage there but I always wondered why they didn't consider this a trail under the lift. Totally skiable imo and would be fun

? true , most of em have their teeth tho , just brown from snuff, Cigs and chewing on sticks

I’m from Pittsburgh I ski in West Virginia and you can see my Pearly whites from space on a cloudy and have spent a life taking care o my teeth in the pursuit of shredding steaks and being appealing to pussy so I can shred that too

✌?

So glad that someone knows where I’m talking about on this site ! It’s a blast when it gets the cover , I know it’s not Corbett’s or anything like but it’s a legit drop for us in the south east and so nice to have , people go loco if u do it

there’s a couple other hidden spots on the mountain bike trails with skiable mb features as well completely out of view of everyone (where I trained myself cause shyish when I fail)

That spot was my motivation to improve for the longest time

now I want enough snow to ski the cup run lift line , There’s multiple 5ft drops there would be a blast

This is exactly what I was thinking of when I opened this thread. I boosted that rock last year, the chair went wild. It's the only time I've ever been to Stevens and I knew exactly when you were referencing hahah.

Along with MRG I'v had people getting super stoked on the red chair over red line at Magic and the Bonnie above lift line at jay especially the top section.

Not a chair but lapping the rope at the park at hyland hills, it’s so fun to be 10 feet from the action and yelling out to the boys

Im surprised there arent more park stories in here. The lifts at my home mountain can get pretty wild when the park crew is throwing back to back corks down the jump line. Or when some random kid stomps a rail line.

Nothing beats a good cliff line on a powder day i guess.

RMR gun barrel lift? Only ever heard of a few people hitting it. Never having snow and the mine field of rocks under it is probably why.

Yup every couple years someone hits it.

Dont think anyone has actually sent the tall section because you would land flat in a rock field, but people drop skiers right into the center area and right down the middle. You need at least two feet of snow to be able to ski out through all the rocks after it. I'd love to ski it sometime but dont feel like losing my part time job/pass.

At Mammoth, it's chair 6 the lift right over main park. If I see on insta that certain pros are in Mammoth, I'll just lap chair 6 all day for front row seats to some fucked up shit.

edit: ye it is Roundtop. Hopefully we’ll get a storm this January

Anytime I watch an edit of someone hitting Three Kings park at PC I always think how much gnarly shit you could watch from that chair.
