Not sure if repost? most likely in that case flame me.

Guy gets schooled on religion.

Ya know to each their own and all. Im also not mormon, but that black guy is just another pretentious religious prick. Hes just reppin what HE believes REAL hard and just because it happens to be against those missionaries people tend to get really excited about this video.

Let me put it this way: Those two religions are based partially or mainly off of ancient scripts or books right? None of it is scientifically proven. So when you say his "opinions," you mean his believes, which are his own but not necessarily right, because they have never been proven to be right. They are just believed by a large number of people. And he comes off as being very proud and certain of his beliefs, which is fine, but when people get really excited about it probably because he is A.) black and B.) not mormon, I find that ridiculous. Hes just another religious person and is just as correct as the mormons for all we fucking know. So the fact that hes done his bible reading and is VERY proud of himself for it, enough so to ruin those poor, innocent, naive mormon boys evenings, I consider him another pretentious religious prick.

lol. this is like the same as two nerds arguing about the lord of the rings, and whether or not the films or the books are better.

Mormonism was created by Joseph smith in the 1820's. Not at all ancient. But my main issue with the bible is it doesnt have an author.

Am I the only one that thought this was going to be about the upcoming presidential race?? Black guy and a mormon and all.

Tought for a sec the black guy was kimbo and he was going to destroy the kids on their bikes.

Still a good find ahah

Well thats totally understandable. I just have a bit of a hunch that people are only excited about this video because the guy is black and not mormon. If the whole thing was the other way around and they were owning him, I don't think this video would have quite the positive attention. Black dude = just another proud religious prick IMO.

Well obviously the movies were incredibly done, Jackson is legendary. But none can argue that the books are better, because it is almost impossible to make a movie better than the book, at least from what I've seen. Oh and black guy ftw

it's not really pretentious if he does have the knowledge and is eloquent enough to shoot down the kids arguments as they're coming up to him trying to push their beliefs. prickish i won't deny, cocky yeah but pretentious he is not

He keeps stating that they are trying to have a discussion yet anytime the kids try and say anything he immediately interrupts them and doesn't let them get a word in. I'd say its pretty rude to tell anyone of any religion to their face that they don't actually believe in what they are saying. He said to their face that they don't believe in Jesus and don't know anything about him when these kids have dedicated the next 2 full years of their lives to try and teach people about something that they truly believe in. Guy obviously knew what he was talking about but he was a total asshole in that entire conversation.

well if your delusional enough to believe in any religion you are going to deem someone else's faith irrational for 2 reasons. 1. Because thats what Christianity, Judaism, and Islam says and 2. Because if you believe in any of those abrahamic religions you look at the world with such a closed mind you can't open it up to anyone else's ideas.

that was a surprisingly well-allocated use of six minutes of my time. He fucking destroyed those kids.

I had a similar experience where two mormons came into my yard when I had a few friends over, and we were taking a break from working. We engaged them openly and told them to explain the entire religion to us, which they gladly did. Eventually though, I picked them apart on the scriptures that Joseph Smith allegedly found in Western New York; I asked if the scriptures, being found so relatively recently, were still intact. They claimed that they were destroyed by spiritual power or some shit like that, and so to this day, they remain lost. I said look, everything about Mormonism is pretty solid, until you reach that point. You're seriously gonna assume that "the power of god" destroyed those scriptures? Get real.

I hadn't realized how conflictual the book of mormon is with the actual bible, though, that's interesting, agnostic as I am.

Honestly Im not trying to raise a storm, but if you don't know about a religion don't bash it. Im Mormon, I've attended church almost every sunday for as long as I can imagine, in almost every case these missionaries are awkward weird mormons( usually the ones who've been sheltered their whole life) up until their missions, you can use the scriptures to prove really any point, thats why interpretations of literature can be used in many ways. The missionaries ask if the people want to learn the LDS belief, not go into scripture bashing, these kids are normal kids who are 19-21 really how much should they know, they only want to try and bring people into something thats brought them joy, in less then a year I'll be attending a mission of my own. I don't tell people to believe anything I state what I believe, and if someone finds interest I share with them so that they can make decisions for themselves, If you want to find the bad, you can find it in anything, these kids are awkward and not good with people or debate. Yet there are so much more really cool Mormon Missionaries that are doing good things.
Mormons are not a cult, and in fact, if you look up what we strive to do, there is only good things. Again though not everyone is perfect, there are bad mormons just as there are good, it just matters on what your looking for. I myself like to look at the good.

The Mormon church was an officially racist organization up until 1978. For 150 years mormons said all blacks were cursed and that blacks could only get into heaven as a slave.

Respect bro. It takes alot of confidence to stand up against people who are being cruel against your core values. Though I disagree with some of their values I found your post to be very impressive and worthwhile of my time. Your point that it is YOUR religion is very valid and people should respect that. Good luck on your mission!

1. That is when Joseph Smith found the ancient tablets and interpreted them, the tablets themselves are very old and what the book of Mormon is based on.

2. The Bible does have authors. It is just recollections or memories of events written in an anecdotal type of way. Although not all chapters have clear authors but many new testament ones do.

It's funny to watch the mormons get shutdown, but listening to the video, the black guy is actually using really flawed logic all over the place. He also didn't really seem that interested in letting them get their point across before making his point. Kinda takes away from it IMO.

If you read the bible, Kane kills Abel right? it then says god curses Kane with a change in appearance making him dark. It does make sense as to why there are multiple colors of race, we do not believe that all blacks are evil, Kane had children. Sure he was evil, Hitler could have had children does not make for them being evil ya know. as for up until 1978, a rule, we also believe is to always "obey the law of the land" thats somewhere also in the scriptures, it means to follow the government, not always agree but not to make rebellion. up until 1978 african americans where still fighting for their rights, the church waited until it would not cause a huge uproar of anger, to give blacks the equality of whites, as for only getting in heaven as slaves. haha I've never heard that, and Im mormon, try and find somewhere in our belief stating that. you won't we aren't racist. In fact we are taught to love one another.

Im also aware of science, look man, I believe what I believe. why are you so opposed, your like the black man in the video firm in his belief that everything he thinks is right is right. In my church (and I can go on a loong time on what i've learned through my life) but it says that when we die what we take is our knowledge and memories, it says to work hard in learning and as you reach heaven the questions of the universe will be made clear, we believe that God made the earth.. It involves science, who ever said that God was an idiot, he's an all knowing being, right? also its believed that one of his days is like thousands of our years, the earth was made in a looong period of time. Again anyone can right about 'racism' but the church would've been prosecuted back in the day for accepting and giving power to blacks, if you were born back in the day you seem like you would be very against giving freedom to slaves, IMO,
Look im a skier, I love what you guys love. Im no different other then my standards and belief in my religion. Im open minded and was in fact born more into a methodist family, I have looked into this and done soul searching, I know what I believe, and its up to others to find what they believe, but bashing people accomplishes nothing.

In the words of snoop d-o-double g "if your scared go to church"
In my own words, "you don't know till you've actually attended church"
Don't act like you know what someone believes, until you've asked THAT person/religious MEMBER what they believe.
I've got nothing against you, I just get so irritated having to defend and explain myself.
It's like if you've done something you feel is great like say land a new trick, and everyone else tells you that what you landed was nothing, when you KNOW what your saying is really what you believe and know to be true. Kind of a weak example but I hope you get where Im coming from. Thanks

I don't care what you believe (as long as it doesn't convince you to go out and start mowing people down with a machine gun, which I doubt it will), but let's be clear about one thing; it doesn't make sense, logically or scientifically. Especially in the light of modern genetics, the history as presented in the BoM is just not reality. As far as the racism charge, are you really saying that the mormon church will not go against society when society goes against their beliefs? That's pretty cowardly if you actually believe you have been told the correct morals from God. Imagine if Martin Luther King Jr had this view, and even though he was personally for black equality, he just kept that opinion to himself because he thought it was wrong to go against the government of his day. It would have been the easier route, since his work eventually cost him his life, but we'd probably be living in a different country if he didn't have the courage to go against what he knew was wrong. The LDS church didn't seem to shy away from fighting for proposition 8 in California to prevent gays from being able to marry. That's fine, they can have their opinions, but don't hide behind the excuse that they won't play in the political area when history puts them on the wrong side of an issue. They went against the government all throughout their genesis when they practiced polygamy and were kicked out of New York and Jackson County because of it.

I've read some of the book of mormon and talked to a few mormon people i know. I have tried to read a decent amount of every religious text so i know what I am arguing against. I don't have anything against your belief as long as mormons (or any other religions) keep it to themselves. Spreading and imposing these beliefs onto people is when it gets to me, and we all know mormons love their missionaries. If you want to believe the story of some guy who was known for being a con man (joseph smith) then you go ahead and do so but it should not get any public preference.

lol. i love how this guy looks like a stereotypical gangbanger with the dew-rag but then has all this knowledge of the bible and is able to give a solid response to what these guys are preaching to him.

Dude, thats a great point, We fight for what we believe, Joseph Smith was murdered, we fight against our belief in homosexuality, but what I say is the truth, my leaders 'believe' that the time to give blacks equality had to. maybe not co-live with society, but ease its way in to society as to not be having mormon members killed along with blacks, call it cowardly, but the church is only trying to maintain piece. The church has many black members if we were racist but even for awhile why would they join knowing that? Please just understand that we are good people, trying to do what we see as right. Also they were not kicked out, they were prosecuted and murdered until they decided to leave for Utah, and even though they where seen as crazy cult members, they never wen't against the laws of society.

Fair is Fair, your life is your life :) I get that, I honestly feel these missionaries where aggressive and not in tune with how that needed to be handled, it should always be the calming discussion of what we believe and inviting others 'if they want to' to learn more on what we believe. If not then we as people should leave them be. Honestly im impressed with your knowledge and actual genuine input. I get annoyed when my mother rams her opinions down my mouth, its annoying. I get you, and i'll stop posting, I just wanted to defend myself and people like me. I hope you understand.
