So my 166 chronics are way too small for me after 3 seasons of use and I need some new ones. Im a big guy at 6'1 200 so i need something thats not going to completely fold, but I would still prefer to try something softer than the chronics. I ski 90% park/urban here in Saskatchewan and I'll probably spend 10-15 days in the mountains but I need a ski primarily for SK. I'm dealing with a store that sells Line, Armada, and Salomon so I'd like to stick with something from those brands. I'm not opposed to going to something slightly rockered either, like the Alpha 2.

Thanks in advance.

If you are skiing primarily park and especially because you are bigger and will put more force onto the ski's do not buy Salmon they will not hold up.

Armada makes really good durable skis. I would recommend the Alpha 2s if they are in your price range, they can do you decentely in the mountains too because of the early tip rise.

get some ar6's, i got some last year and they sound like exactly what you need. the edges and sidewall will hold up way better than the alpha 2's. I live in Calgary and they come out to the mountains with me all the time, they are awesome in the park but take me anywhere on the mountain i want to go fairly easily, like any slimmer ski tho a little harder to manage in deeper pow. But the alpha 2 is a great ski and i would recommend it to anyone but it sounds to me like the ar6 would be a way better choice for you. Im 6'5" and 190, and they work great for me, I love them.

Alpha 2, AR6 or Chronic...All of them are super fun and will hold up for a long time even though you are bigger. Alpha 2 if you want the rocker, AR6 if you want a softer ski, Chronic if you want a stiffer ski.

I was considering the afterbangs but from what I've heard they might be too soft. The alphas are one of my top choices right now. Anyone who's ridden them have any positive/negative things to say?

I love my Alpha 1s but I only ski them in park pipe and urban... I'm sure theyd still be sick in all but the steep and deep... on the flipside I've never been dissappointed by an armada ski and I've been on every ski since the ar7

I'm almost completely sure that I'll go with the alpha 2's, but I am unsure about the size. I realize that the running length is shorter compared to a ski with regular camber. It just seems like a big jump to go to the 182's instead of the 176's. Also, due to me skiing a lot of urban I was considering mounting them at centre as compared to the recommended at -2.5. Any thoughts on that?

I wont ski as it's meant if you mount it at center. Mount it at like 1.5 back or something you ond;t have to go 2.6 back.

Armada ar6 will be a little softer than the chronics, and because you are so big you probably don't want something as soft as the afterbangs. I think that ar6s will be your best bet.

So true, but DO NOT center mount alpha's they have a rockr deisgn therefore they are not meant to be center mounted, go with the factory recommended, its not a big difference. Also get the longer ones because the rockr design makes them handle like they are much shorter but in the air they are easy to throw around yet feel like a longer ski and act more like one on rails and boxes.
