for those of you who've been keeping up (or just don't want to get subpeona'd by the riaa)...
Why the RIAA can't get you if you're in Canada
for those of you who care, the tariff's on blank cds in canada are tiny, but they're trying to almost double or triple those (the riaa lobbying the canadian gov't). also, here, the Senate is having a panel debate on ISP's providing information on 'potential' copyright infringers subpeona'd to them by the pricks over at the RIAA. There's a realvideo webcast of it. The best bets we have are William Barr (VP of Verizon) and James Eillis (Exec VP for SBC Communications). Verizon recently dropped a shit assload of cash to prevent turning over the names of 2 people (guess your 40 bucks/month is worth in), but lost. SBC is currently telling the RIAA to basically fuck off. I posted this hear instead of media and arts b/c this section needs something more interesting and intelligent statements than shit like legalize weed in the u.s.
