Hi Im from the Netherlands and I'm heading to Montreal half of January for half a year.I was wondering what kind of conditions I can expect. I read some things about Tremblant and Bromont. Is it mainly groomers and park or are their some backcountry/powder possibilities?

I want to know because I'll first travel a month through colorado and head up to different ski areas and Im trying to decide what kind of skis Im getting. Im thinking about some skis from 90 till 100 wide. However, if montreal skiing areas only offer groomers and park I will have to reconsider.

ye theres not a lot of pow around montreal... you can drive to quebec city at le massif( 2 hour from montreal), thats the only place where ive hitted some good pow.

go to tremblant, mont saint saveur and bromont to ski part - 1hr 45, 1hr and 45mins away from the city. to ski pow go to Jay Peak across the border in Vermont - just under a 2 hour ride from the city and well worth it

skis like chronic, all-mountain type will suit you well. It's the ones I'm buying. I had afterbangs for the last two years, it's good for park and trails but as soon as there's fresh pow, they aren't that playful, it sucks a little bit.
