Montreal/bringing alcohol across the boarder

So a couple friends and I are planning a 3 night trip to Montreal. I read a thread that talked about the bars and clubs, but what is there to do in the day? I have been there once, but i was in 8th grade. We went to this place with like a dozen pools with water slides, diving boards, and platform dives. What is this place because we want to go there.

Also on the way home, would it be a bad idea to try to bring alcohol across the border?

Don't know the place. But US customs won't allow you to bring alcohol back into to the states if you're under 21. However, if you're 19, you can take alcohol to Canada. (1 litre/ case of beer per person). So do that because alcohol is super taxed up there.

I've been to Montreal dozens of times but I'm at a loss, what is there to do in Montreal? I would hit up Schwartz's if you can though.

I wouldn't try bringing booze over though.

yo if you're 18 man you have so many things to do...bring some money and you wont need to bring ANY booze whatsoever..any corner store will provide sufficient amount of beer and any liquor store (SAQ) will have any hard liquor that will be sold to 18 year olds with ID so bring ID. I can even tell you where those liquor stores are. If youre interested in some night life there are dank places to go out on certain nights. What exactly do you want to do ?

They ask if you if you have anything to declare. If you say no, then they decide to randomly search you, and you have all sorts of shit in the trunk, you're going to be in trouble.

we are definitely hitting up some bars or clubs, so suggestions are welcome, but we also want to do some fun shit during the day.

the things i remember when i went was a maze, the pools, and an insect museum

is the place with the pools and shit called the aquadome?

is the underground city worth checking out?

any other entertainment suggestions? we just want to have a good time.

and if a car full of 18 year olds says they have nothing to declare coming back into the US, you can be sure their going to "randomly" search the car

Aight so im one of the people going, for those who live in the montreal area, what the best bars in the area? and is there any specific hotel that is right in the middle of everything?

Go to St-Laurent Boulevard during the day to shop and walk around and eat. At night to party it up(what nights are u here? like friday sat sunday or something?)

Go to the paramount downtown on st-catherine to see batman in imax.

Go on St-denis street at night and during the day. Theres a sick bar called St-Sulpice with a baller ass terrace.

There are some clubs in old montreal which could be chill also.

There are numerous pools and what not to go to but there are sick waterslides on the outskirts of town.

Unless you've never been to a casino and are set on kinda wasting money, avoid it but it's fun to go and check it out.

China Town is pretty legit i guess and its real near the old port and St-laurent boul.

Hit a Shisha Bar, (Kaffeine on Bishop Street) it has limited space but once u have a table and what not it's fun(pre-drink before if you're going) and it's near Guy-Concordia Metro. There are a few others but they're not as fun.

anyway ill think of more stuff, you should come up for IF3 also, and btw brush up on your french, you'll meet some quebec hotties

Hit up La Ronde during the day, it's a sick amusement park. There's also the casino you can go to, it's badass there's like 8 floors if I remember well. And hit up Sainte Catherine during the night, it's illl!!!

also go to the tam tams (on mount royal/ le plateau) there's a lot of crazy stuff going on there (lots of drugs too) eat at a belle province and please get a poutine and a hot dog (steamed of course). The water slides you are thinking of is the aquadome...but i don't know if I'd make a whole trip out there...walk along st-catherine and you will be plenty amused...there's also the biodome and museums if your into it...

NOTE: do NOT buy tremblay beer, no matter how good the deal is, its just not worth it...its the worst beer you'll ever taste.

oh and try a bagel from st-viateur, its worth it! ...there are a lot of strip clubs too...just watch out cause the dancers ALWAYS want to rip you off...ask Big_Lau!

this is the type of advice we were looking for. looks like we will be buisy. its a good thing we have a gps. we haven't decided the exact dates, but it will sometime at the end of august, and we will probably stay during the mid-week because of cheaper hotel rates. i hope "je suis cam" is enough french for the hotties because its been 3 years since i took french 2. if3 would be sick, but we will be in college. this is like our last good time as high schoolers.

i have a bunch of friends in VT and we used to head north of the border quite often when we were underage (even below 18). Yeah, out of say the 10 times we came back over the border, we were searched twice, which i assume was because it was a car full of drunk 18 year olds at 3 am with nothing to declare (and we actually didnt have anything). so dont bother trying to sneak shit not worth it, otherwise border patrol is a breeze, its no hassle.

rue st. denis at night for sure, you will never have to leave. if you guys have big balls check out one of the strip clubs, they are famous. otherwise, its become a tradition for us to go to cobalt cafe in the old quarter and chow, then head up to rue st. denis and get crunk, then walk around the underground city with some bottles of wine (you can have booze on you, and i believe it can be open too, but if you are making a scene security in the underground city will get you to leave) and jump urban shit at 2am like the stupid drunk americans we are. i definitely recommend that. also, there is people on every corner just asking if you need weed and whatnot. while i have never bought (dont smoke anymore), they all looked fairly legit. just use your instinct and i dont think most of those guys are out to rape young american boys.

yeah montreal is such an awesome time, im planning on going back soon and all of us are over 21 now. been going for years now. it was easier before when gas was cheaper though....

yah for sure you gotta go to la ronde, sick amusement park. euh clubs id sat fuzzies is popular, red light is insane! you should definately eat some poutine! oh and what the hell is the underground city? i never heard of that and I live next to montreal. damm i need to get out more

i think theure less strict going into canada than out of it but ull ruin your trip if u get caught

its totally ridiculous that they can sell alcohol at any

corner/grocery/liquor store in Quebec and the states,

in Ontario, we can only get it at the LCBO or The Beer Store

yet another reason not to visit Ontario. i live in Alberta and we can buy booze at C.O.P. during a sick day of downhill/dirt jumping. my older friends always grab me some Mike's Hard when we break for lunch (i'm 16 so i can't buy it myself).

lol I live near montreal and at 15 years old i would take out bear no problem most of the time. seems bad but we dont have any major drinking problems around here

Dude are you kidding? Get fucked up go to the strip club then go to a club or rave and eat mad crystal molly when you get kicked out for yelling obscenities at the strippers.

Montreal is the shit! When you get there, fill your hotel bathtub up with ice / water and throw in beer. No better way to drink and throw than to always have a fresh cold supply of that sweet nectar close at hand.

St Laurent St: Shopping eating, and most importantly partying. At night the street is packed with people waiting to get into a club/bar, leaving a club/bar or going to a club/bar. Tons of people getting loaded, waitng to get loaded, or already loaded. And just to mention it, traffic on this street is nuts, when going there drive up on a side street and park there. Trying to get there or out of there can be a bitch.

Crescent St: Suprised no one mentioned this one. Every establishment, or at least every second one is a club or bar.

St Denis St: never have to leave here. Shopping eating and once again boozing. Its already been said but hit up Bar St Sulpice. Doesn't look too crazy on the outside but out back theres a huge terasse. Chill place be it night or day to chill, catch some wild beers and shoot the shit. Also D - Structure used to be on this street before it closed down.... RIP

St Catherines: Lots of shopping and similar to all of the above but theres bonus. Theres a strip club (or two) every block or so. So if you want to go stare at some titties, by all means, enjoy

** just gotta mention Peel Pub on Peel St. Nothing too crazy but get yourselves one, two or twelve 4 L pitchers and enjoy. Cheap and is lots of beer in one big pitcher, golden, just golden...

Daytime Activities...

After all the partying, who wakes up before earliest 1 anyways... but what the hell

LaRonde - Amusement Parc

Casino - Maybe you'll be lucky... but probably not

Super Aqua Club - Dope water parc on outskirts of town, 20-30 min ride depending.

All drinking establishments on previoulsy mentioned streets - why wait till night, get a fucken head start...

Go party and throw down

1st post by the way... hope it was helpfull ... bringit on

Oh yeah, and even if you've lived in Montreal all your life you still find wicked new places to party, so don't be restricted to any of these places, wander around anywhere and you'll for sure find something or someone to do...

thanks for the advice. that is the most helpful/informative post i have ever seen on ns. i am going to have to print this page for sure.
