Montec is not core

They're not my favorite. I don't like the style and I prefer to support local brands, but I don't get the absolute mouth frothing hate tbh. I know I'm kicking the hornets nest and I'm gonna lose all my internet points, but I just don't understand why a brand that makes ok stuff at worst is that much worse than like TNF or whoever. Did they like unfairly kick someone off their team or something?

Supporting influencers !== skiers, plus it’s cheap shit that brakes in days, fast fashion basically.

And don’t out TNF, I have tons of fleeces and other gear for years from them.

Who mentioned influencers? They sponsor some Youtubers ig but they also sponsor Olympians that throw NBDs lmao. They're not unique in that aspect, but their team seems a cut above Tiktok stars or whatever. As for the quality, I've not seen a single in depth review that says they're anything worse (or better) than like a mid tier name brand. With that said, I don't have personal experience.

I'm in TNF as I write this lmao. I'm not "outing" them; they're just an example of one of the least "core" brands that nobody even bats an eyelash at. They started in rock climbing, they're owned by a huge corporation that also owns Vans, Dickies, Supreme, they straight up introduced like hypebeast fashion shit to outdoor wear, etc. Black Diamond, Quiksilver, Arc'teryx, Helly Hansen are similar. What makes Montec so much worse?

I think the main point is the amount of effort the company makes to support the sport(s) and lifestyle that connects with skiers or boarders. They probably wouldn't receive the same level of hate if they were seen by the community to be supporting the sport in a more significant way. Most of the biggest ski companies we know of support their athletes, provide entertainment to skiers, and support the sport in almost every aspect (youth programs, every discipline of skiing, and boarding, professional athletes and film projects, climate activism).

If you can't understand why people would feel some type of way seeing all the money thrown at a brand like montec and dopesnow instead of a brand thats helped build and support skiing as a sport, then idk what to tell you other than fuck off and read a book.

Are you implying that the conglomerate brands I mentioned do all this? They wouldn't give a fuck if the Pentagon carpet bombed every terrain park on the continent lmao. I don't see how Montec and Dope are any worse.

I also like to think I've made it clear that I agree with supporting brands that are better, but I still don't see the point in spazzing out when someone wears Apathetic Company A's logo over Apathetic Company B's

I owned a jacket and quality is dog shit, all the zippers broke and tears in the jacket within days of skiing. It IS cheap, even compared to 12+ yo jackets that I have. Also very ugly, and a plague to go ski, it’s the shein of outerwear.

But sure, keep throwing your money at Swedes i guess
