Hey guys im about to buy a pair of skis from this guy on ns. how do i know if its legit? it seems super legit he sent a pic of his license and multiple pics of the skis. but he wants me to send a money order saying he would have to wait for paypal to connect his bank acct. Are money orders sketchy and have any of you used one before what should i know? thanks anything helps!

I can't believe anyone would ever send a pic of their license over the Internet to some random dude.

Money orders are totally fine...for the seller. They offer the buyer absolutely zero protection. Once you mail the money order, your money is gone and you have no recourse (short of suing, which we know you aren't going to do).

If he wants to make the sale, he will accept PayPal and wait the few days for the money to get to his bank (can often transfer money from one's PayPal account to one's bank account in less than 24 hours). If the dude is really that desperate, is he worth dealing with? PayPal protects both the buyer and the seller. I've made hundreds of (perhaps over a thousand) transactions through PayPal and there have been two instances I needed their protection. They came through both times and saved me several hundred dollars.

Idk. Pay pal SUCKS BALLS.

As much as it could be sketch, I can't really fault anyone for not wanting to fuck with pay pal. They suck, their customer service sucks, their site sucks, and even their pets suck.

FUCK PAY PAL.

Also I've bought and sold stuff with checks or money orders. Mostly friends though or smaller stuff. I just sold some concert tickets with a check. I've mailed people cash and had the same for small things like 50 or less too.

Idk, you just gotta decide if you trust the person.

Idk. Seems great for the buyer, but they seem to fuck a lot of sellers.

Also I can't imagine having to deal with a dispute with them. It's hard enough to deal with them for normal stuff.

Shit company. I have mine linked to a bank account specific for it with low $ so if pay pal decides to suck balls really massively some day, at least I won't be out too much.

One of the worst companies I've ever done business with.

How's the guys profile feedback? If he has consistently positive reviews then I think you should be ok. If he has bad feedback then don't deal. If there's none, be wary.

Paypal takes less than a week to connect to bank account.

Well, young padawan, from experience of course.

Yeah honestly this. If time was the only reason for not wanting to do it through paypal that's not looking so hot.

They just have to do the bullshit where they put money in and take it back out and you tell them how much it was. I think sometimes they can even just confirm you without that.

Also really pisses me off when people do scam people within this community.(not saying he's definitely scamming you OP

Also to thread, sorry about the rant, I just hate pay pal.

Wait a second. The prince contacted you as well? Must have been before I sent him the money. Poor guy seemed like he couldn't catch a break from people.

But yeah for sure. There have def been at least a couple cases I've heard of over the years of actual nsers scamming people though, which is lame.

Get a job or sell rocks or something
