To celebrate this A.T. and Backcountry forum on NS I give you the 15/16 touring models first. (So not in the gear rumors thread or on TGR.)

Here are the 15/16 touring skis from Moment:

Personally I am really stoked about the Tallac.

[hope uploads are readable and I didnt f*ck up]

The Underworld and the Tallac look sweet but I wish the Tallac came in a slightly smaller size. Is the Underworld basically a slightly wider PB&J with less camber?

Whats going on with the camber profile of the Underworld? Never seen that before, besides on snowboards.

It is called 'triple camber twin rocker'. Rocker in the tip and tail, some camber underfoot, and so called 'micro camber' parts in front and behind the binding. This shape makes a ski really surfy but the micro cambers give extra edge hold where you need it so it still rips on hardpack.

Read some Deathwish reviews. Those have the some rocker camber profile and got a lot of good feedback and awards.

What is your length and weight?

I would have liked a 190 or 192cm version of the Tallac, would make a great daily driver, but I'll get the 186 and mount some tech bindings.

The PB&J has 'Mustache Rocker' and the Underworld 'Triple camber twin rocker'. The Underworld is designed to ski and tour in all conditions you will find on a backcountry tour but still be surfy and playfull, more than a ski with a normal tail. The PB&J is an all mountain shredder that is playfull, is fun in the park but still rips.

So yes the Underworld is wider but the camber is a different story. The micro camber sections really work.

Nope, longer.

When the ski gets received well and Moment gets a lot of questions about a longer length I could see it happen, probably not next year though.. But it is focused on the touring market, not a lot of guys tour on something 192.. The Belafonte has a similar width and comes in a 194..

I am only 5'2' and 115lbs so 178 is slightly too long for me, especially in a ski with rocker only in the tips. My PB&J's are 172 and my Bibby's are 174 and both are the longest skis I've ever been on. I love both of them, but do not feel like I could ski anything longer than that. In a full camber ski, I usually ski between 160-165. In a front rocker ski, I ski a 170ish (I really like the 169 Nordica NRG 100 for example). I'm in the market for a touring ski to put some dynafiddles on, and I was almost thinking of putting the dynafiddles on my PB&J skis cuz they're so good at all mtn skiing (I don't really ski park at all, well hardly at all) but these are intriguing, just slightly too long for my short ass.

Putting some dynafits on the PB&J is not a bad idea. A rocker/camber/rocker shape is great imo for touring. Versatile but also fun. I have the current Exit World so that basically the Bibby with lighter core. You'll kinda have the same shape just narrower.

Hmmmm, well I'll probably have to wait until next season at this point anyway unless i splurge on the factory sale this summer. I'm waiting to get dynafits until some other companies give them and marker some competition. For now, I'll tour on my stupidly heady Bibby/Guardian setup. Those underworlds look sweet though.

My wife has pb & j's with dynafits on them and they work great. On deep days she wishes she had a bit more under foot, but for most days she's out there they work like a charm

Thats great to hear because my Bibby's have guardians on them for the deeper days!

Since we know that Atomic & Salomon only come with that light and simple touring binding next year we know all the offerings.

Maybe the Marker Kingpin gets a new toe piece but not next year.

A really new offering might come in 16/17..

I'm sticking with my Plums untill the real tech 2.0 bindings come.. Plum comes with a normal brake next year btw.

If I would get a new setup now I would go for the Skitrab TR2 (+boots that work with them). If new boots is not an option, than G3 ION. Kingpin is stupid without a safety release in the toes IMO..

I feel this, just picked up radical ST's for $300, so those will probably stick around for a while

I've been touring the Deathwish all season. The ski rips. I can only imagine that a dedicated AT ski will really take off. The Mustache Rocker take a little getting use to on the firm pack but hopefully we don't see that too often in the BC. Big ups to the boys a Moment.

The tallac is exactly what im after. I need it now though.. gaah. I have the exit worlds for short tours for pow and they are sick!
