Moment Pb&j

I ski at jay peak in eking and ski mostly trees groomers and ungroer off terrain trails. I need something that can be stable on steep groomer, quick in the trees and have some float. Is the pb&j right for me? I am teenager and just want a ski that will be alot of fun. I am 5'10" 150 lb if that helps if you have skied these five me your thoughts

ya, the pb&J will be perfect for jay. IMO, you could even get away with something a little fatter. jay peak averages more snow than vail.

No they don't, they get the same amount.

I have the PB&J ski. They're fucking awesome. Super stable when going fast, RAIL groomers, pretty nimble as well, and have a solid rocker profile so they'll float well in powder. Definitely a great all-around ski.

So is the best option for me in the 98-101 mm waist for the type of ski I am looking for also if anyone has any footage of them using the skis that would be awesome if you could send me that

Also how does this compare to the blend and te bacon from line

If I remember correctly from checking them out in the shop, (haven't skied the Blend since before it had a rocker profile) the blend is a decent amount softer, has a longer, less pronounced rocker to the PB&J but has almost identical dimensions. The PB&J is handmade, while the Blend is definitely not handmade. I loooove the stability of the PB&J. Even though it's got a big rocker, it has a decent effective edge (about 140cm on the 172cm model) and the stiffness of the ski lets you go mach-titties on the groomers with no noticeable chatter whatsoever.

Personally, I wouldn't look for a ski by though waist width though. Find a ski that intrigues you and your style of skiing, research it, and see if you can Demo/try it out if possible. I didn't actually try out the PB&Js before buying them (nobody demos them in CO) but I'm glad I researched the ski a lot and have skied so many skis in my life that I knew how it would ski. It definitely has surpassed my expectations though. I've skied plenty of boxes/rails on them too but I'm actually contemplating putting inserts in them so I can swap them between my alpine bindings and a pair of dynafit bindings. That's how versatile they are.

You should also look into the Volkl Bridge. They might hold an edge better than either of these skis when it's icy but have slightly smaller dimensions. Their stiffer and heavier than either the Blend or PB&J, and have a much longer but more gradual rocker.... just to put things in perspective.

Didn't see the question about the Bacons. The PB&J is DEFINITELY stiffer than the bacons and has smaller dimensions. Similar rocker profile but I believe the PB&J has a slightly bigger rocker and possibly shorter effective edge (don't quote me on either of those).

It's good in the trees, comprable but not excellent in moguls. But you can't be complaining about the lack of finesse of a 101mm waist ski in the moguls. Yes, they're lightweight. That's why i said i was contemplating putting dynafit bindings on them.

here is my honest opinion on Moments (inb4 tcurle says the exact opposite)

Moments skis are some of the most fun skis i have ridden! thats right. they make good skis

where they lack is the durability. i live in Reno which is where they are handmande and i have heard dozens of stories about them breaking. including last years skis, which were claimed to have a higher durabiitly. although my rockers are not broken, for two years they have some damage that i would not expect from other companies. so in my couple years of skiing, and only skiing at one main mountain, i have easily heard or seen many moment skis break.

also i know for a fact multiple people (including the ski saleman at my local shop) realize Moments imperfections. when buying new skis, he showed me the moments they had; but reccomended something else for better durability.

another place they lack is the area of customer service. the guys there are really nice and super cool. however when it comes to their mistakes, they arnt the best at fixing it (from what i have seen)

So in conclusion, if you are willing to sacrifice durability for a fun ski. then get moments. in my opinion based on what i have seen, i would rather buy any other ski that has similar specs so you get the fun skiing as well as the tough durability!

i hope i helped make your descision and if not then best of luck man

Get the PBJ's. I've been on the 188 for two years now and they are holding up like with normal wear and tear. They have softened up a little and I'd say they they are dialed in and have another good season left in them.

No im not fucking kidding smart guy. Im not nit picky at all, i was saying in a sense to the OP so he got the idea that going 110 underfoot isnt too much. Then you came in and tried to correct me with "no they get the same amount". WTF was that you tardsmack, your the nit pick. I just reiterated the facts. I dont have time for this BS.

I wasn't being nit picky... I was averaging averages together....

Whatever though. OP, just get the PB&J's, support independent companies. You won't regret it.

Anyone else? I'd like some more input from people who have ridden the skis and some footage would be awesome. I am also wondering is these are fairly easy skis to ski.

Yaa do it! I had the line blend before my PB&J's and the moments are much better handling and way more stable. For your size you would definitely need a 178 and mount no closer than -4cm for float in powder. i ride ride 172's for park and they are just border line big enough for pow at -3cm. (145lbs)I also rode rossi S7's for a bit last year and i gotta say they were sick. they rode just as well switch as my pb7j's and were a sweet freestyle feel when mounted between -4 and centre. keep an eye out for those as well! you won't be disappointed
