Mobile NS on iPhone 4

More and more people are moving away from desktops and laptops and experiencing the Internet on their mobile phones. When I'm on Ns these days, a majority of the time im using my phone to access it and I have a few gripes that should make mobile NS a much less painful experience.

1) When replying in a thread or PM, it's a massive pain in the ass to have the 'submit' button in the bottom right portion of the keyboard. 50% of the time, I end up accidentally hitting it while pushing another button (like the letter M) and I send or post an incomplete message. Simply frustrating. I switch to fullsite mode to reply now since its a much better (although slower) experience. My suggestion would be to switch "submit" with "return" and make it start a new line of text because...

2) ...it's a pain in the ass to type something in the mobile NS reply box in on one long ass string of words. I cant edit or even see what i wrote more than 10 words back. my suggestion would be to increase the size of the reply box, atleast enough to see a couple sentences worth of text, and maybe allow scrolling inside the textbox for larger replies.

3) Is there still no option to create a thread via the mobile site?!?!? I looked around, but again I find myself switching to the fullsite mode to create this thread.

The full version site has the features, but all the extra stuff loading on each page really cramps the flow and having to pinch constantly to readjust zoom isnt very user friendly either IMO. Mobile NS is great to use reading, it has a clean design which loads nice, but when you want to do more than just read, the experience goes downhill very quickly.
 
I concur to this, especially to 1 & 2. These are all easy to make changes too for whoever can do it. the other day i was buying something and couldn't give my address on multiple lines because there is no enter/return, and also i always accidentally hit that and send half done messages/thread replies. PLEASE FIX THIS!
 
Also, I know that I along with may others dont use the App iNS, but instead the mobile site. i have it bookmarked so i can access it from my home screen, but the icon is a bit of an eyesore as it is low resolution. It'd be awesome if you could fix that too!

I agree with what was above, and I want to add a few more things. Not big, but can we get a message history link. It kinda sucks when you accidentally delete or respond early to a message, and thus have to go to the full site to fix your mistake.
 
i paid for/downloaded the app. its terrible. way rather use the mobile site, which also has its problems.

im not a developer but why not just base it off of other successful forum apps? i have both a grasscity app and a nasioc app, both of which are exactly the same, and work great. worth checking into maybe?
 
replying to anything on mobile ns is awful, i tend to just browse things and hold back from replying. it would be nice if the reply box opened as if you were typing a text so you could look through what you have already typed.
 
Yeah, I really agree with 2...it gets frustrating not being able to correct any mistakes/see what you wrote. Other than that, like said above, reading through the threads is really clean and easy, but replying to PMs can be a pain.
 
Bump. I think these flaws are so bad that they deter people from visiting and interacting on NS via mobile phones/tablets. Ahhhhhhh!!!!
 
ive had problems where ill click any letter and it will put away my keyboard on the screen, i end up trying more and more but it keeps going away then eventually ill wend like half a message.
 
I like this thread. And I agree to everything you said. And I have more.

-Being able to click someone's username in a PM. WHY CAN'T WE? Everytime I need to look at message history I have to search for them in the Members pulldown.

-"News" as the default search pulldown? Who searches the news? I don't know about anyone else but I always search Forum. So if that could be the default that would just make things easier.

-Creating a thread. You already said that but I'd like to emphasize it.

-Viewing someones feedback, pictures, etc. Why must I go to the Full Site to check their pictures or feedback?

-Links in PMs. They automatically send you to the Full Site. If someone sends you a link to a thread and it could send you to the thread on NS Mobile that would be great.

-Reply box. Another emphasis thing. I would like if it went down as you typed rather than one really really long line. If you misspell something (easy on an iPhone) or forget to put something in it's a huge pain in the ass to go back and fix it. Not to mention that accidentally hitting reply is much easier than purposely hitting it. I sent like 5 partial messages to someone yesterday from accidentally pushing it so many times.

-There should be a "forums" orange button on the top next you your Profile, Inbox, and Logout. Otherwise you always have to go to the home screen and then click forums.

That's all I can think of for now but I'll add more later. I'm on NS Mobile a lot.
 
Oh one more thing. Hitting reply in a thread and absolutely nothing happening? I remember this being discussed before, but that's the most annoying thing for me. I will type out a very long response in a thread and hit reply and nothing happens. I can refresh the page, log in and out, even turn my phone off, and when I go back to the site it still happens. It happens randomly, and it's happened with all the phones I've used, so I don't think it's mine.
 
I think that might be the spam buster? I only notice it when i try and replied back to back quickly. I do notice it often though
 
I don't think so just because it's happened when I've writted a response for way more than 20 seconds and then I click Reply and it doesn't send. It it's not like I'm double posting either because I'll open up the thread again and nothings there. Kind of weird.
 
It only happens to me when I quote someone and only sometimes. But if it's a long reply it's really really annoying
 
when in safari, go to a website you want to bookmark, hit the ARROW icon in the middle of the bottom taskbar in safari and choose "Add to homescreen"
 
i think you should all just be glad that there even is a mobile site that works as well as it does
 
i agree with all of these problems, especially the one about the enter button on the keyboard. i always post incomplete sentences. but i love mobile ns, im using it right now.

Most times when I reply to a thread it won't reply!!!! It will just stay on the same thread without budging. It says it was posted but I refresh the paga and I can't find my post!!

Does your phone run alot faster on mobile ns/is mobile better for anything but speed. I always switch to full site and zooming in and out doesn't seem like much of a hassle compared to not seeing half the stuff I want to that's on here. Does full site drain battery life more or anything?
 
The reason that can't be done is because NS is a custom written forum. NASIOC and Grasscity are both standardized forums that utilize the same general code structure as thousands of other message boards throughout the internet do. The code for one forum will work on thousands. It's worth writing that code once and being able to reuse it.
 
I have certainly experienced my fair share of problems with the mobile site... I can never go back and scroll to see what I just wrote without having to delete the entire post...I often press the submit button accident with a half written post... Everything loads extremely fast though so it doesn't bother me much.
 
I just made a thread about this....yeah it wasn't a "free app" so this shit should be tip top.....but as I said in my thread....it needs an update bad....the quote function works sometimes....you can't see past page 1 on threads.....and my version of the app has zero PM function so those who are talking about that, what am I missing?
 
every time I open my app it makes me put my information in evan tho it asks me in i want to save my information.
That needs to be fixed
 
Also, they should make it so you can view videos on mobile NS. on the searchbar, you can only look up news, forums, and something else I can't remember right now. They should add all the things you can search for in the desktop searchbar to the mobile. Also, you don't need to have replied to a PM to have it go away. Sparknotes. Mobile NS needs a fat ass overhaul.
