MLB 14/15 thread

Spring training is underway so it's time to talk baseball again. Talk about trades, games, how much you hate baseball, or really anything. Like usual the cardinals are going to win it all this year.

I am deeply disappointed by the moves the cubs made. Yeah we got Travis wood back, but we also got a mascot. What the hell is that.

When I was a kid I loved the Mets.. Now I can't watch a minute of baseball.. This picture popped up in my Newsfeed on FB... These don't look like athletes but they are Mets' Pitchers

Hey, don't forget Erik Hinske and his amazing back tat as the new hitting coach, great move there.

Let's go Braves! Hoping their young pitching staff continues to grow and improve. And there is no way BJ and Uggla can be any worse at the plate than they were last year, should be another solid year for Atlanta.

Hey wanna remind me who beat them in the world series this year? Oh ya thats right, boston did. Your cardinals suck fat dongs.

why the fuck did the dodgers diamondbacks open the season in australia a week before the season starts? makes 0 sense

my guess is so that they have enough time to fly back to the states and adjust to the extreme time difference

i mean more along the lines of what is the mlb gaining from playing games in australia?

it would be like if the australian cricket team came over and played a few games at dodger stadium. people would go watch, but are we going to gain a lifelong respect for cricket?

anyways..#rolltribe

I think it's more to showcase the game of baseball and try to encourage more australians to play, hoping to have more aussie players in the MLB in the future. I have a cousin in Sydney who said there was plenty of buzz around town and people were pretty excited about it.

I've always been a Yankees fan. However, I no longer connect with the team or any of the players on it. I grew up watching tino, williams, jeter, pettite, posada, and rivera, and after this year with jeter leaving there will be none of them left.

The Yankees never tried to replace any of these players, they just tried to buy new ones. Throwing cash here and there to get the big names who are past their primes. I don't have the same passion watching their games anymore. I think it might be time for a new team, or hope that they bring some more young kids up from the farm system, instead of throwing more money around.

Assuming he's talking about the winter conferences, but those usually are about the upcoming season... (so 2015, baseball is one of those sports that sit within one year per season.)

Which is exactly my point... Baseball isn't played on both sides of Jan 1 like everything else..

(this is what always made me laugh at EA Sports when they'd put out "MLB 200whatever" for a season that would be a whole year prior to the one they were speaking of)

I'll have you know EA only did the Triple Play and MLB games. I know this because I could only buy the MLB 2kwhatever games.

...coincidentally, 2K Sports did not re-up their MLB rights for 2015. Here's hoping to EA picking up the slack and putting out a new version of MVP Baseball. MVP 2005 was the shit.

aaand as per usual, the A's start the year off 0-1.

...I seriously don't remember the last time they won on opening night haha.

Well we're 1 game in and the Brave's season is already looking like it's going to be a long one. Lose 2 starters to the dreaded Tommy John, and a 3rd to the even worse Tommy Dong, luckily Minor will be back in the next few weeks though.

With such a young and inexperienced rotation we're going to need consistent offensive production, which is not Atlanta's forte. Uggla, BJ, and Gattis going 0 for the day, and getting shut out by Gallardo is not helping my confidence.

I think Mariners fans expected the 10 - 3 win over the Angels last night even less than the Angels did. I was certainly surprised.

Should be an interesting season.

Coco Crisp. dude is the man

he used to play in my hometown when he was in double A. New Haven Ravens. they won the double A world series on a pickoff one year.

I'm not trying to come off as a dick here, but this whole batkid thing is extremely overblown.

There's tons of kids with cancer, but they're choosing this one kid to do all this shit? I don't get it? Cant they spread the love a little?

I mean, it's cool and all, but why just this kid?

...in other news, I've never seen a 3 game series played over 4 games for no good reason... A's and Twins had an off day today right in the middle of the series. WTF?
