MIT Student said bomb threat was art

An MIT student wearing a circuit board that Logan Airport's security thought was a bomb was arrested at gunpoint today.

Star Simpson, 19, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and approached an airport employee in Terminal C at 8 a.m. to inquire about an incoming flight from Oakland, according to Major Scott Pare of the State Police. She was holding a lump of what looked like putty in her hands. The employee asked about the plastic circuit board on her chest, and Simpson walked away without responding, Pare said.

The student's explanation actually makes sense: according to news reports, she claimed she was on her way to a "career day" (she's a computer science student) and wanted to be noticed, she then said it was art. Well, she got noticed, for sure.

 
her saying thats art is like the people who hung those nooses in jena saying that the nooses are art. she probably scared teh shit out of the person she talked to.

Well yeah what else are you gonna do? She's honnestly lucky to not have gotten shot; if she would have gotten shot it would have been her own damn fault.

I can imagine she thought herself to be super brilliant when she came up witht he idea, I really hope they dont take her excuse and actualy lock her smug ass up.

It's not like your gonna ask security to not react if someone has something that looks like a bomb on them and they dont answer. This really bothers me as she'd probably be that cunt type to martyrise herself and start screaming about freedom of expression.

Why cant people just be chill and reasonable? Hope that cocky hoe get's some sense slapped into her.

It was a circuit board with LEDs and a battery. Remember what happened last time a circuit board with leds and a battery showed up in Boston? Nothing. Jesus, this is the mooninite thing all over again.

Jesus christ. It doesn't look like a bomb any more than a laptop computer looks like a bomb. Are you guys fucking retarded? Its some LEDs on a piece of plastic with a 9 volt battery. Jesus. I agree it should probably be questioned but I don't think the girl actually thought she was making a bomb.
