Missing out on College Graduation

So, I just learned that the second round of the national tour of jet ski races in Panama City, FL that I plan on racing this upcoming season is the same weekend of my spring college graduation ceremony. I am torn on which event to attend.

How big of a deal is college graduation? Would I be an idiot for not attending and not making a milestone in my life, or is this something that you'd be willing to brush off given my circumstances?

Just looking for some of your thoughts.

I went to both the general university convocation and my individual college's "walking" ceremony. To be quite honest, it was pretty boring and not really worth it for me. Even my family was disappointed and said they would have rather just spent the extra time with me.

If you have something important to do that day/weekend and your family isn't going to be offended or upset, I would just bail on the graudation.

Oh, and I should also mention...I completely skipped my graduation/hooding ceremony for my master's degree and don't regret it for a second. I spent the day at my parents' house with my family and we sat out by the pool, grilled, and drank beer all day.

I'd say skip it if you having something else to do. You sit there forever listening to people talk about the same shit over and over. Then, you get a little book thing saying you graduated and leave. Complete waste of time imo.

Remember your highschool graduation? Ya same thing but longer and more boring.

this. I went to mine also, big waste of time. It's nice and all because it's this official thing, but you've already done all the work and earned your degree, no need to put on a goofy hat and walk across a stage if you have something more fun to do.

i'd go to the race
