Missing Malaysia Airlines Flight

Lots of unknowns, but doesn't sound good

"Aviation sources in China report that radar data suggest a steep and sudden descent of the aircraft, during which the track of the aircraft changed from 024 degrees to 333 degrees. The aircraft was estimated to contact Ho Chi Minh Control Center (Vietnam) at 01:20L, but contact was never established."

It seems that it has most likely crashed according to CNN. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of those families that have members on the flight.

It sounds like there is a possibility of it crashing in the south china see. Let us hope this is not true.

Sounds like everybody is probably dead. The plane's been out of the air for almost 11 hours now. If anybody survived they would have been able to call for help.

I'm very curious to hear what happened. I wonder if they were shot down. I can't imagine a mechanical or technical failure would cause the plane to just fall off the grid.

What makes you think if there were survivors they would be able to contact someone? There are some pretty wild, desolate, mountainous areas of SE Asia.

I'm way more inclined to think it was mechanical/technical/pilot error than being shot down or something along those lines.

The thing I don't get, is how they wouldn't be able to contact anyone just before they crashed?

Either it happened that suddenly, or like the air France crash in 2009, they didn't even realize they were crashing.

But really, no one knows. I remember there was the same discussion when an egyptair flight crashed awhile back. Literally disappeared and everyone blamed one thing or another. Then as it turns out, the Co pilot crashed it on purpose. Just so many theories and variables that you never know

Why not? Is Malaysia Air known for regularly crashing planes or poor/sketchy maintenance records? Let them figure out what happened before jumping to conclusions.

They found a couple oil slicks around the area that was lost contact, no doubt it crashed. Scary to think no one may ever know what happened. I really do hope there are survivors out of this. Thoughts and prayers to all families

The thing that sucks about these tragedies is you have to sit and wait for weeks or months until they find the black boxes before anyone know definitively what happened. Such a sad story, something you never see coming.

Read a report that claims the last info about the plane was that it was diving almost vertically, and facing a completely different heading than it should have.

This is really scary...They all could be alive stranded in a jungle or all hopefully not but dead...Keep us updated news junkies!!

it seems weird that terrorists would crash a plane into the ocean. they usually want to create a bigger disaster than that

bet the planes communication was killed and its gonna end up in the US somewhere within the next day

also its probably an asian pilot so are we really shocked something has gone wrong

For those of you who don't know much about commercial airline fleets, a Boeing 777 is a BIG plane.it must have taken something very wrong to take down something as big as a 777

I've been following this very very closely with my room mate who is Chinese, and fluent in the languages of China. We have been following Chinese and International news and are now pretty sure something catastrophic happened. I've narrowed it down do asphyxia of the pilots due to lack of oxygen in the cockpit, rapid decompression of the aircraft, or a bomb (terrorism).

There were two stolen passports on the plane and the people whom they belonged to both had their passports stolen a year ago or more. The tickets registered to these passports were purchased through the same agent, with the same flight paths, at the same exact time. I'm gonna call terrorism at this point.

Below is the eticket info, which can be found from many different sources.

Beware, its already well over 700 posts.

Look at the ticket numbers in the bottom left. Identical except the last three digits, one being 099 and the other 100.

I've been reading that the whole passport thing isn't entirely uncommon in that area of the world. It is suspicious though.

Also been reading that supposedly it was picked up by a military radar traveling in the opposite direction, as if they had turned around for some reason
