Hey guys, so i need some help. I got my first MIP the other night. I'm 18 and going to college this fall. Im just wondering how serious this is and what I can do to help. Im also leaving the country this fall and I was wondering if this MIP will restrict me from traveling out of the country. K+ for good answers. Thanks guys!
 
pay the ticket. take the alcohol class to get it expunged from your record and you'll fine. no it will not effect your travels.
 
I know in oregon you pretty much get the first one expunged by default, just gotta stay out of trouble for like 8 months

 
Not bad at all. Pay the fine and it usually goes away in a few years, especially if you go to court and ask along with good behavior.

-2 in a year= a week+ in jail as well as a $240 fine

Shit's rough, I have a bunch of friends who went to jail this year.
 
Sounds like you have a bunch of really fucking stupid friends. You have to be a complete retard to get one MIP, let alone 2.
 
That sounds shitty and a waste of money putting a bunch of kids in jail for having weed or alcohol. Where r u from?
 
It really is and thats our point exactly. On top of it, it's not a deterrence if kids continually keep drinking and going to jail. haha

But I go to school in Bemidji, MN. It's literally the only county in the state that has this harsh of penalty, to my knowledge.

I got a minor in consumption this year, and I can't believe I'm saying this, but thank God it was a sherif because he gave me a minor under state laws which is $185 and doesn't go on my record.
 
I got an MIP at the airport security when I was trying to fly internationally a year a go. I for got about an old roach in my back pack and the dogs went nuts. The searched my pack and found the smelly roach and gave me the mip. I was still able to fly and ended up paying a $250 ticket. wasn't to bad. I no longer have it on my record.
 
I got an MIP (drinking) when I was 18 in the U dorms. It was shitty, but definitely not the end of the world. Utah is a stickler with this stuff, and I got a 400 dollar fine, had to take an alcohol class, and had a year of probation (which basically just meant I couldn't get in trouble again for a year). In the end I just chalked it up to a semi-funny story about the most expensive shots I'll ever take. It doesn't effect my life at all.
 
My roommate got one and lost his driver's license for a year, which it pretty ridiculous. I'm from California, it seemed way too harsh for a simple MIP
 
wait MIP means you got caught drinking or having alcohol at the age of under 21? Seems pretty ridiciolous to me... If you get caught drinking underage in germany (meaning hard liqour with under 18, or beer with under 16), all they do is tell your parents...
 
YEARS from now, yes. get a lawyer, and you might be able to 'defer' if you meet some requirements. again, get a lawyer and see what he can do for you.

 
and in some countries ran by islamic extremists they cut the balls off anybody found with any amount of alcohol...just a different culture man.

 
if you get an underage in PA, you will lose your license for 3 months. sometimes they'll give you a work license, sometimes they won't. had it happen to a lot of buddies, total bs.
 
MIP is listed as the new gateway to heavy drug use. Odds are you'll be sniffing bath salts and eating peoples faces in less than a year.

They sound terrible in the US! I'm in Canada, and the cops showed up to a party I was at, but all they did was make you dump it out, then they left. :P
 
This happened to me one time. I was 16 and they were walking around on the property. They just told dump our stuff and leave.
