Military

have any of you guys thought about joining up? any branch... i can say that its been something that been lingering in my mind for the last few months...

i sort of almost looked into the FBI and other secret agent activities but that isn't really military, I don't think I'd join the army/navy/marines/af unless they were going to start drafting because I am a girly man.

It's totally a great time to join the military. 2 meaningless wars and a country full of people not worth protecting. Great idea if your purpose in life is fueled by an intense desire to kill brown people, regardless of ethics.

That's funny coming from you, considering that if we didn't have our armed forces there'd be a good chance that you would be killed for taking it up the butt.

hahahahaha classic. oh my.

anyhow, i'm considering it strongly. my options at this point are army rotc, maybe marine rotc. i'd want to either to infantry, special forces, or fly choppers.

I would like to work for USAID or a similar organization though. A few months ago I found a job posting for a program analyst/economist position where the requirements involved being able to drive a stick shift off-road 4x4, climb in and out of helicopters with full body armor, and 8 weeks a year of weapons and field medicine training.

I'm in the Air Force and I'm leaving for basic January 1st. PM me dude if you have any questions about anything military. I can already tell it's the best decision I have made in my life so far.

I would recommend he PM someone who is actually in the military, no offense but anyone can use Google or talk to a recruiter. Experience is slightly different.

while in high school i strongly considered joining the Navy with my buddy and ended up going to college instead. I then heavily considered it while I was failing all of my classes sophomore year but that's a whole other story. I'd suggest going to a school with a strong ROTC program and starting out there and then you will be able to start out as an officer....unless you want to enlist and do it that way instead. just my 2 cents.

no i'd rather be alive than die for no reason. i'd be more inclined if it were a war that actually had a purpose

tought about it several times, rangers or SF or something, but the belgian army is too insignificant imho, so i just plan on staying in college :)
especially the survival and outdoor activities are what draw me to it...i'm not so much of a teamplayer either, so that speaks in my disadvantage...
but i am perfectly capable of improvising and surviving on my own....
last year we had a snowsurvival weekend with some scouting buddies of mine, they all worked 8hours on a crappy shelter in the snow and ended up sleeping in a barn while i slept in a handmade snowpit for 4 days :)

i also have a friend who is a belgian SF instructor and we occasionally hike out for a weekend and survive of what we find; bear grylls style :)
coolest thing ever was surviving on a belgian army training ground during an exercise, we had to conceal ourselves and couldn't make an open fire for 3 days ^^ was fun as hell, don't think many ppl get such experiences without enlisting :D

good point...definitely not disagreeing with you there
but as far as surviving like I_am_god said he and his buddy were doing, you should imitate les stroud and definitely not grylls

i dont want to shit on your parade, but the chances of joining the air force and actually flying a jet are slim to none. granted, i dont know you personally, and if you think you can go for it, go for it! fighter pilot has to be one of the most intense jobs ever, i cant even imagine flying one of those

Thought about marines, but I don't really agree with the "wars" we are engaged in. Not by political stance either, but just because we can't actually afford to pay for them (China..for example.. is actually paying for them)

fine with me, next week i'm going on snow survival again, i'll take my gopro and see if i can make a lil edit :)i only have 1 battery and no solar chargers or anything, so i'll have to be careful with what i film :)
let's hope my pneumonia is completely cured by then ! :D

dude has a point here....you better have some damn good vision...not just 20/20 but better and have zero health issues, nervous twitches, anxiety complexes etc. my buddy just went through 3 months of tests to find out if he is steady and calm enough to sit in the cockpit of a fighter jet and he barely passed and he is a stone cold dude. they are the rockstars of the AF and it is probably the sickest job next to a SEAL, Ranger or Green Barret

btw you need to be an officer as well. Expect a solid 4 years of college before, at least. Plus they like you to have an engineering, aerospace engineering, and other crazy ass major.

Because we are delicate flowers, who's virgin souls are at stake and should never be soiled by the scenes of war. We are national treasures, and the military is protecting us, and only us, by forbidding our participation.
Who do you think designed the uniforms?

my best friend is in his 3rd year of marine option naval rotc, if you have any questions i'm sure he'd help out. on my friends list, hes the one that crashes alot

That isn't even relevant.
Obviously a gay paki like yourself would be against military presence in the middle east.

yea if i joined the military i would have to do it with the goal of being a fighter pilot, sniper, etc... something specialized like that. but i have no fucking clue what it takes to become one. what all the steps are, what you need before you join, how long it takes etc..
like if its the type of thing where even if you have what it takes, go through all the steps, do really well, but still just have a small chance in the end based on luck, being at the right place at the right time, etc.. then i dont think id go for it.
but if its something where you can make it based purely on skill and how well you do, i would definitely think very strongly about doing it.seems like one of the most badass jobs you could ever have

go for an armored division, learn how to drive a tank, then wreak havoc somewhere and eventually when the coppers stopped your tank, blow the tank up with yourself inside and a dozen coppers on and around it ...

Wow you got in, they have not exactly been recruiting lately we are over manned. I just passed my year in, it's pretty cool once you get through basic and tech school. What job did you get man

Yeah I was happy to hear that I did get in. But I'm going to be an air craft mechanic. I'm so stoked, and can't wait to go. What job do you have?

I work on navigation and meteorological equipment in the field its sick but hella busy. Nice you'll be headed to Sheppard AFB in TX for Tech, i hear is sketchy there, as in there are many med hoes there and they have one of the highest STD rates in the country so be careful. If you have any questions PM me man, good luck in basic its going to suck but just lay low and stick it out and you'll be fine.
