the way i see it, all companies involved are using this as part of a marketing strategy. they have open spots on their team, and are looking to bring in some new talent. seems to me like a good way to go about it. the only downfall i see is that some kid may end up winning and he cant ski to save his life out of the park, whereas there could be other kids in the comp who are much more well rounded and put together a solid run, but they end up falling just short on the fact that they dont spend every waking moment skiing park. personally, i dont think sponsorship should be based on, say, five runs through a slopestyle course, there's so much more to being a sponsored athlete than being able to 450 on to a rail. this think could work out really well, but it could also come back to kick line, etc. in the ass if the kid who wins is not marketable. any way you look at it though, its a great opportunity for sure.
