Mike Douglas podcast

What up NS,

Wanted to share a podcast I did with Douglas. The first 25 min is a re-cut version of something I did with Powder and gives his background. And then we jump into almost an hour of new conversation. Mike has done so much behind the scenes, it cool to hear about it all. The rest of my winter guest list is stacked.....there will be more from me.

Interesting to hear his take on being a paid professional skier at 49 yrs old. I totally agree that it all boils down to being able to move product for the company that sponsors you. There are a ton of people in his age demographic that are still skiing and have $$$ to spend on gear, travel, etc.

If he can continue to capture the "older" audience/market's attention and show them what's possible at that age, then I say he's still very relevant and still pushing the envelope. As he continues to stay in the game, he could also inspire some younger pro skiers to think about their career differently in terms of longevity and how to chart things out.

Seth doesn't text me back anymore. I've asked him to be on the show many times, I'm guessing too many. When he used to text me back, he said that he had been listening, so that's cool but I don't think I'll get him on.

Glad you guys like them....A second interview with Wallisch is Monday.

Sweet thanks!! I’m a new follower and i’m Digging it!!

What a friggin curmudgeon.

I enjoy these podcasts when im at work. But Powell can seem kinda douchy sometimes, but they are still the best skiing interviews out there.

Great one as always. I can't believe you guys didn't get into Vail; buying Whistler.

Love your podcast. You sometimes come off as a frat boy who thinks it's super cool to tell people you party but that bit has mellowed out and the podcast is now more about you getting people to tell their stories. You're great at getting a conversation flowing and asking the right questions. Great pacing and great content. Your podcast makes many people look like amateurs. I still won't share in on facebook though. No matter how many times you ask.

I think we talked about the Vail thing on the Sponsored podcast and I cut it out of that re-edit. Should have talked about what that has evolved into...When we chatted long ago, it had just happened.

Thanks man! I put a lot of work into these, so nice to hear. And pretty good analysis of me..I can see it...the funny thing the lottle partying I do has always been work related. And it's always come off that I partied way harder then I actually do...I think

that's because of the dumb shit I've always worn and said...

Anyways, thanks!!

Long time listener, first time caller. Fosdevdt was one of the better ones. I know.why sethmo wont get back at your texts. Somebody put grass in it at the border.

Haha..Thanks. I should revisit the Karl one...Kinda do what I did with Douglas and Pettit. And if you're referencing the border thing I did 20 years ago...I still feel bad about that and it was done with the best intentions...

It's clearly story time. Fess up.

I put it in a podcast...but no idea which one...I was 24 and heading back to the states from a meeting in Canada. We stop for gas at the last Canadian gas station, I realize I have some chron that I'm not going to cross the border with..... I see a car, no-one is in it and the back window is down a bit. I gift them with my leftovers....When I told the driver of my car what I did, I was made aware that most of the cars at the gas station were getting gas and then heading to the US border....I thought I was doing a great deed.....but in reality, I could have really messed with someone's life and I'll never know.

Love the podcast. Kills it at capturing the evolution of freeskiing and is very well done.

However, I am boycotting the Mike D episode until he pushes Salomon to release a ski with the OG 1080 graphic, I could care less if it is their recreational carver, I just want the yellow ski! Mike D has clout and the gumption to make this happen. Now make it happen for the YOOT!

Question: Is this your only form of employment? I have no intention of doing a podcast but I am curious as to how lucrative they are.

I do this and live events. It was a struggle for the first year and a half and now it is getting easier. I'm not crushing it by any means but I'm doing ok. Sponsors see the value in it, are able to track as success through codes and find it a lot more cost effective compared to print....which I hope will keep this going for a long time. Who knows what will happen though.

I will say that it's time consuming. I put at least 40 hours a week in every week and been doing that since I started.

Cool. Glad it's successful. I only got into podcasts last year and there are only a few I can actually listen too. Keep making more. Like, way more. More often.
