Hey guys I know some of you guys may or may not know who Mike Aitken is. He is a professional bmxer who is one of the nicest guys I know. Now I don't ride bmx nor am I really in the bmx scene but I've met and talked to Mike a few times. Mike is seriously the nicest pro you'll ever meet he'll have a conversation with someone just like you would with one of your buddies. He's not cocky or does he have a "I'm pro so I'm god attitude". He's just a great all around guy and a loving husband and father. Just the other day he was riding in PA and overrotated a 360 and hit his head. Now because of his career insurance companies won't insure him because he's too high of a risk. So now he's in the hospital still unconscious and is going to have a bunch of bills to pay. The full story is at http://mikeaitken.com/

So if you have any extra cash and would like to donate to a good cause please do this. He really is one of the nicest and sincere person you'll ever meet but sometimes bad things happen to good people. If your not able to donate please send some positive vibes for him to recover.

oh fuck. i didn't know mikey could crash. i rock his shoes even. thanks for posting this man.

man mike get better soon! the bmx vids would die without you!

+++ vibes, ive met him also such a nice guy. i loved his attitude, just did what he liked to do. had the smoothest 3's ive ever seen. hopefully he gets better soon

Fuck! Mikey ruuuuules and kills every segment he's ever in. +++++vibes. He has a family and a kid too.

this is horrible. I met mike a few years ago at the gravity games and he really is a super nice guy.

TTT. Mike is such a good guy and to prove this just about a month ago at the AST Dew Tour in Salt Lake City wher Mike won the bmx dirt he donated his $5,000 bonus check to fellow bmx rider Stephen Murray who was paralyzed last year. So guys instead of buying a cup of coffee or going to a movie donate a few bucks to Mike to help him and his family out.

Also just a little update from yesterday:

Mike is starting to take the first few steps down the long road to recovery. He has begun to respond to his wife Trista's voice today, shifting and moving his arms and legs (especially responding to laughter).

Mike is still in a coma, but the fog is starting to lift. Trista was able to explain to Mike what happened and Mike moved each arm and leg to make sure for himself that he's ok. He also made an attempt to give Trista a hug and tried to open his eyes when asked...

Here's his part from 50/50's Thats It.

Here's the update from today

Mike seems to be holding strong. He moved his

left thumb three times today when asked, and moved his right toe. He is

having his jaw wired shut this afternoon, which is good news since it

seems to be causing him some pain when he yawns.

We've truley been amazed by how much support Mike has received from

around the world. Thank you for all of your positive posts, they are

very comforting to the family and we've enjoyed reading them to Mike.
