This season is my second year in park and im rele looking forward to going to summa camp and i settled a deal w/ the parents to go to MHSSC. Cheapest but it still seems like it will be a good experience. I am pretty good at rails and starting to go past 3's (which i have off of pretty big jumps)my questionIs this a good camp for my ability? (am i too bad for it?)Is it a good experience, anyone have any experiences to share?sorry for this but im signing up really soon like this week so plz share.

yeah something to do about the way the camp was run or something. smething weird or sketchy i dunno. i don't know the situation at all. i tried to apply for a job there but no one emailed me back

I went there last year and it was the highlight of my summer! It has less pro coaches than windells, but i loved being there. When I went i was the same ability as you and i got much better and more comfortable than I did in that whole winter. The coaches are fun and they want you to do better. MHSSC also has trampolines (if they are still there) so you can try no trick before you try it on snow. No water ramps, but that was cool. Their private park is great, and the Mt Hood public park was also really fun. It was soo easy to get better. If you have never been, the snow was is soft and forgiving. I am definitely going again this summer. If you do register, go for Park/Ariels and not racing or moguls, they have to lap gates when the snow is like a rock, before it warms up and becomes "spring skiing" snow.

Yea what he said, just don't piss off Kevin Malone if he's there. And take complete advantage of being there, its a lot of fun and you should push really really hard to get better while you are there cause the coaches are really good and you can get some 1 on 1 time with them and they can teach a bunch of shit.

and it didn't get closed down

MHSSC park i sick. i was living at hood over the summer riding mostly public park, but went to the mhssc one a bunch and windells sometimes, i honeslty liked mhssc's park 10 times more than windells. plus theres never a crowd up there and the attitude is way more laid back and less pressure than windells. the coaches are still super legit. they shut down only for a few days because of the kid on the tramp, but its all good for them now.

Haha i trust you're speaking from experience care to tell us the story? and Malone is sick and so are all of the coaches they're all so sick.
Your skill level seems pretty good for mhssc not that many sick kids go there but there are definitely some sick kids just not nearly as many as windells. Honestly it was the best part of my summer and i'm going back this year and plan to continue it's just so chill the one part that isn't always chill is those stratton mountain school kids always take over the ramps and are dicks to everybody, If you have any specific question feel free to pm me.

MHSSC is teh tits, i love that place. best part of my summer last year. and no, it's not closed, but some kid broke his femur on the tramp so the dad sued in order to get custody of the kid due to a brutal divorce and the camp ended up getting hit hard as fuck. it's designed for all abilities and is good for people who haven't done much park skiing. it's such a chill place, you ski in the morning and then hang out and go rock climbing or rafting or something in the afternoon
a few tips:don't piss off malone as stated above, he's very easy to piss offsign up for rafting, it's sickgo in late july/early august, it's when hood is the least crowdedgo a day early, totally worth ittry to never be in a car that the counselor chad is driving

When I was there he yelled at this kid who was 10 years old for staring at him. This little kid was a complete asshole and his brother almost got the camp shut down (we did not know that at the time), but Kevin Malone ripped him a new one.

hahah yeeahdefiantly dont piss off kevin but seriously ive gone there fot three years and its AMAZING even if you go to anyother camp its the most fun ever

went there last year with my mogul teamghettoist shit EVERlike soo many things are fucked up about it
that said, it was the funnest shit eeever

i think with budget cuts and some stuff missing, pretty sure there will only be 1 tramp that can only be used under supervision of someone like malone and i think they're getting rid of the high ropes course

yah im just wondering if its so good why is it half the price of COC or windells. I want to go for two weeks and im ok in the park. just wondering why its so cheap and if its actually legit because id rather be at a good camp for a week then be at a shitty camp for two weeks

IM FRIENDS WITH THE COACHES THERE

THEY ARE STILL OPEN

THEY FIXED EVERYTHING

ITS A SICK CAMPP

you should goo fro sure!!!!!

a friend of mine told me at some point why it was cheaper, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. In the end, they have a very nice park, great coaches, and I think a better attitude than some other camps, especially compared to say high cascade (even though that's boarding only). They have good shit, you're very close to timberline, you'll learn a ton, and... you save a shitton of money.

yea its dope as shit i love it soo much soo chill..plus sean, nolan, and malone are the shit. i applied for a job this year..idk if i got it yet im still goin if i dont though

oh and the best part....racer/boarder chicks

Its an awsome camp soo much fun, i didnt learn anything the coaches didnt realy help me out to much. but somehow i did get a little better.

haha so true

i went to the last session last summer and it was way fun

Pros-Everyones pretty laidback and its mad cheap

Cons- You don't really get coached, at least to the session i went to, we just lapped the park.

-Alot of little kids there, but this is actually kind of a plus cause they add entertainment

-There was only like 3 other kids there to ski park and then me and my 2 friends

-there wasnt much night life at all at the session i went too but i heard otherwise about other sessions

While it may seem like there are alot of cons i was just trying to give a accurate depiction

Overall though i had loads of fun and would highly recommend it, and the session i went to was 800$

alright thanks alot sounds good. Just because its either there or COC which is cho expensive but it seems super duper legit and stuff

I don't get why everyone says don't piss him off. I don't doubt he has a temper but when I was there, me a friend and Nolan played bball against malone and two of the snowboard coaches at the picnick and we beat there ass's. Malone didn't get pissed off during any point of the game and he walked away with a smile. And I had seen him earlier that week around camp and he was always smiling so maby he just was having a good week or something but I never saw anger.

Woooooooooooord mhssc is legit we coach everyone who wants to be coached, im not going to force a kid to learn stuff if theyre not into it. But all my campers who have wanted to learn left camp waaaay better than they were when they go there. All the stuff from last year is cleared up camp is way more legit the new trampoline set up is sick me an Nolan were doing a bunch of Dubs after camp ended. My kids always have the most fun at any camp and thats truth. I only get pissed at little goomba shit stain gaper kids so if your legi dont be scuuuured come to camp!

hahaha, I love how half this thread is "don't piss Malone off." Malone is the shit though. Super good coach, as well as Nolan, Decker, and (occasionally) Stu. The cool thing about MHSSC with respects to the skiing is that the coaching is not a "pro show," where big names throw down and you just kinda sit there and watch. You work on things as a group in the morning when the parks are too hard to open, such as skiing switch, nollies, ollies, butters (little stuff that helps the beginners just work on their skiing), and then when the parks do open, you just start seshing. Then, once you get warmed up and are ready to try something new or just work on dialing a trick you already have, the coaches are right there to give you the info you need to land your shit. Por ejemplo: I was working on dialing corked 5s this summer and I could only land them like half the time. Well, after a few attempts with Malone watching, he told me I wasn't popping hard enough off my carve and that if I did that I should be money. And literally one or two tries later, I was good. Bottom line: the coachings the shit and the coaches are chill people that will not only chill with you on the hill but also off it.

how is Malone a dick? He's the funniest dude ever and one fuckin wise-ass person. Just don't be a tool and he won't say anything upsetting to you. If he says something, it's probably for you're own good and it's probably just him being funny. So chill out, stop worrying about it, and ski.

layover days are 1 day of chilling in a mall with not much supervision and one day of free skiing where thye supply the ticket

Whats the difference between pro camp and day camp? Is the pro camp just lift ticket and day camp the whole camp just no overnight and breakfast or something?

so im doing a day earlythat means i only get a ticket and can only ride public? or can i do mhssc park? so i get instruction on that day?
