MHSSC listed on Zillow

Makes sense, 99 percent of people don't understand what closing the economy can actually do till this happened. This being the reason why the country needs to start slowly reopening yet at a faster rate since most of the second wave rumors are bullshit scare tactics.

You can look on the east, west, north, and south and you will see listings like this on Zillow. Real estate investors and Private Equity Firms are about to have a field day if we don't get people back working soon. It's already happening but it could get a lot worse.

Sucks so see that place go, was like the last camp where kids could have fun and no one their had to worry about lawsuits etc, compared to places like woodward and windells. The vibe looked so chill and everyone just sent it. There's a bunch of video's on insta of kids hucking their meat at that camp haha.

Honestly its good. They probably need the money. Their website is stuck in the 90's and honestly kinda unprofessional. I know that they are a phenomenal ski camp but from the looks of things it seems that they are lacking a bit compared to windells. Windells has much more up to date info and is much more flashy and attractive to loaded parents.

Not saying I disagree with you, but the camp has been listed for sale since early march so I don't think covid is the reason they are selling. Although I'm sure it's going to be a rough summer business-wise.

Either way RIP. I really hope someone cool buys the place and keeps MHSSC going, that camp is the wild west of summer ski camps. Maybe we can all pool our $ together and make an NS summer camp?

Hahah yeah a total of like $20

The owner of the camp is not the wisest. First example, look at their old park, pretty much trash, same with their "diggers". Second, the owner seems to not get along with anyone except for old racers. Third, besides the owner, there is even more of a lack of leadership or direction with the workers. I remember when this place was cool and more core than swindells but you had people like Nolan, Malone and Shea Flynn, and now the only solid person they have is Oscar Weary. I hate to say it, but it seems like summer camps on mt hood will never be as good as they used to be, especially with Weasel and dumb fuck Tyler running Timberlines park. Mt Hood lost a lot of its great vibes, it has turned into airbag camp with a bunch of rich kids, like the Fagan running around with no supervisor, while the coaches and counselors go and smoke a spliff or 10.

Yo THATS MHSSC??? Whenever I heard people talking about it on here I always thought it was some boujee ass ski camp that had private rooms and chefs and shit

Seems kind of unfair to call Mike unwise, seeing as hes been running the camp since the beginning of hood summer camps. Sure he could have dipped harder in to the freestyle side of skiing, but the dude is 70? 80? Racing is all he ever knew and running the camp primarily as a race camp seemed to have been working for decades.

As far as the diggers go, aside from being a full snowboard crew they've been doing a pretty good job the past two years imo. Especially considering the minimal amount of money they put into it. Jack Reid had been building rails like a mad man and Im bummed that all his hard work is going to waste now that timberline took over the private parks. Definitely sucks that all the older ski coaches moved on though, Nolan and Maks were huge inspirations to me while I was there

nolan malone and shea!!!

went to mhssc and cant lie it was a complete joke. they literally have a massive trailer next to the dining hall where they dump all of their trash and the smells would waft around the camp. The ski setup was pretty whack too, with half the (very few) features being weird, like a knobbed rail and awkward wallrides. pretty fun miniramp tho, and oscar and jonah were sick coaches. bummer to see it go but not much of a surprise.

I was gonna say I went when I was in 8th grade so 8 years ago with some friends and I really liked the non competitive aspect of it and actually learned more park skills than I did when I went to Windells the year before. My coaches were Nolan and Maks and Maks worked with me on learning my backflips consistently all week. Windells coaches you had to be really overt and want guidance. Being a shy kid I was overlooked most of the time but at MHSSC I didn't even have to say anything and still received A1 coaching.

Sure the amenities aren't the best but the super tramp they had was all my friends and I needed to go hard on after skiing until it was time to sleep. Their park lane? Not good at all but the public park laps on magic mile were better than Windells. We skied through it because the coaches had some mutual friends and we all found the hot laps on the mile were much better than the Windells lane at the time. I met more genuine people at MHSCC some of which I'm still in contact with to this day. I don't remember anyone from windells and no one was really welcoming. BUT having both LJ and Ahmet as coaches when they were up and coming skiers is crazy to think about now. They are both ski legends at this point
