I want to build a metal rail for some backyard use and I don't know where to start, How did you get your metal rail, did you have to weld it??
 
My dad owns a workshop and he has some spare metal pipes around which i can use for building whatever i want. Welding is pretty much nessesary for making the "legs" (dunno what theyre called) for the rail to "stand" on, and if youre making a two-(or more)barrel rail you have to weld them together also.
 
i used a wooden frame and then screwed two metal pipes from home depot on top to make a dub barrel, it slides real well.

i just found an old radio tower in the garbage someone was throwing out. they come in all different sizes up to 50 ft. i got a 15 foot one and it is perfect, threw some paint on there and looks great and works great in both summer and winter. will post pics later
