Messed up my ski, got some questions about warranty/new ones?

Well, we were hucking 1's and 3's off a rock today, and off one of my 1's I came down with all my weight forward, leaning over my tips, and put tons of stress on my skis, and popped out of one of my bindings. I checked it out and noticed my edge was snapped in 2 and bent a bit right under the heelpiece of my binding. I'm about 5'5 , 120 pounds, and was on 153cm '07 invader minis. Nearly the same thing happened on my chronic mini's last year, and the shop gave me store credit and I ordered these invaders online. So do you think there is anything I can do to warranty them? They skied fine for the rest of the day, but they can only get worse, and these skis are getting pretty damn short on me anyways.

IF I do end up searching for new skis, anyone have idea for what size I should get? like I said, I'm 5'5 120, and will probably center mount, or close to it, anything I get. I kinda want something stiffer than my invaders, since they have no pop, and didn't give me a very stable feel in the air or landing, but they were minis, so they were wicked narrow. I was thinking maybe ar6's, anthems, or 07 chronics/blends, but those might be a little too stiff for what I'm used to? Any suggestions appreciated.

Got another question......

Line says that the 08 invaders ahve some features that make them a bit stiffer and give them more pop than the 07s? anyone know if this is true, or if its actually noticeable? Also, how much of my popping issues and instability in the air is from A. my skis being too short, and B. they're minis, not full skis.

No wonder they get messed up! Your 120 lbs and on a junior ski!

The invaders would be a good replacement, but please, do yourself a favour and go no shorter then the 161cm model. You could easily handle the 171, as they are a centre mount ski, they will feel shorter. Seems like you like your skis short, but im not sure.

like he said go 171 if you buy skis you wont regret it im 5'6 and on 176 dumonts its so worth it...if your gettin new skis

Haha,.....yeah, I'm a bit bigger than when I bought 'em. Anyways, I'm not quite sure as far as siving goes. If I went 161, that's only 4cm bigger on each end than my current 153's (center mount). Seems like I could outgrow that pretty quick. But If I went 171, they would feel huge on me....not sure how fast I would get used to that trying to get through glades/moguls. Plus, I have enough trouble rotating as is.....how much does a longer ski affect rotation?

anthems. end thread

mine are sooooooooooo dope. they are soft but have super pop and landings feel like super soft pow landings. no matter how high. and they are wider for softer snow

Im not trying to get you set on the whole "longer skis" craze.............

Your looking at this all wrong. Longer skis are more stable in the air and on the ground. Longer skis are faster. Longer skis spin better too! I can spin harder on my 174 scratches than on my buddies 158 scratches. Dont fear length, its your friend. I see it as VERY unsafe for people to be riding such small skis, and honestly, a 171 isnt big on you at all. Last season, I was 5'4" and was riding 176 T-Halls. Those were big, but i wanted them to last. Im on the same length this year, and Im 5'10, and its alright, but a 180 would be better.

What im trying to get at, is if you want some stabability, better flex, and more fun in general, get a longer ski. ESPECIALLY, invaders are a symetrical ski, so they SKI SHORTER than they really are. I would say 171cm, or dont bother buying new skis. It would be a waste of money to go any shorter in your case.

Agreed, thanks for all the help. Anthems seemed pretty nice, pretty much a stiffer invader? You're probably right about the 171's, that just seems massive after skiing on my 153's.....but.....I guess if you think about it...that's only 9cm longer on each end....3.5inches....not actually a huge difference I guess once you break it down. And 161's would be to small for a skit that I want to last me through next year. So now I'm debating between invaders and anthems. Other than a small price difference, it doesn't seem like the invaders have any advantage, although neon nacho libre beats boring wolves any day.

i had 155 last year btw. you will not regret your choice of 171 and for the choice of what ski i dont kno anything bout line but id go with invaders just cuase ive always liked that look and the way people talk bout it

Yeah, I'm kinda leaning towards invaders as well.....they're cheaper, which is a big factor since I dunno how much my parents will help me out after getting me new boots and goggles like two weeks ago. I used to think that being really soft is the reason my invaders didn't really pop, but I think now that that may have had more to do with how short they were, not to mention they were only the minis version. My local ski shop has invaders too, so I wouldn't have to wait for them to ship.

you're 5'5 and skiing on 153's?? Holy shit, I'm 5'2 and ski on 175's without any problems (though they are my all mtns). For park I think you should be at least 170. You'll love the added stability, trust me.

Alright........How much of a disadvantage is the softer flex on jumps/landings? I have no plans to be hitting giant booters anytime soon, but I've heard that a ski as soft as the invader doesn't give a whole lot of pop or support, and can cause a lot of backseat landings. I noticed I would end p backseat a lot, even off of tiny stuff, but chances are that had a lot to do with my tiny ass minis.
