Mens skis vs womens skis

soz to make another thread.... but i would love to know...

Who rides womens specific skis out there and who rides mens or unisex skis

and why? Ive never ridden mens skis myself but from what I've read they're prodominantly stiffer and more "robust" than a womens "soft and squishy ski"

Gimme your opinions ladies

It's not that I won't buy a ladies ski, but I definitely tend to gravitate towards mens skis! I prefer a bigger/stiffer ski, I ski predominately big mountain tho as opposed to park

Bascially what others have said, I like stiff big skis so tend to get men's skis over women's plus I'm super brand loyal to on3p and while the jessie looks sick I like their other models better. If they made a ladie's billygoat I probably would have bought it.

Ive always rode ladies skis, mostly because Im short and alot of mens skis don't come in my size.

So its either kids skis or womens haha

Dude it bothers me that most pow skis are all 170+

I'm on the east and really have no need for them unless I get lucky on a west trip but I've been trying to buy used pows but they're all sky scrapers compared to me

Feels!!! I hadn't see. Pow skis under 170 until I looked at coalition .... literally my 5'1" tiny person body cannot control skis that are like 15-20cm taller than me

You'd be surprised. I'm 5'2 (157cm) and I ski 176's in pow. +20cm seems to be the limit though. I've skied lots of 180's since that's always the size I have to demo in (they never bring the smaller sizes on demo days). I can ski a 180 length ski at my size, but the fun to amount of work it takes to push around a ski of that size stops being a good ratio. Out west though I've felt under gunned on pow skis shorter than 170. 175ish seems to be the sweet spot.

With the amount of rocker they are tacking onto skis these days, you might be surprised at just how large a ski you can handle, especially if you go for something full rocker. If I was out east though that would probably be serious overkill. I'd probably just ride edollo's or some other wide park ski for east coast pow ;)

THIS ---> "there was a part of me that wanted to be able to turn to another lady and laugh about how I would have bought the burliest sports bra on the market if I’d known how aggressively bumpy and rutted that access road was going to be." ---> wishing I was there to laugh about that too!

Would def love to see how long of a ski i could handle. Im jumping up 10cm this season and thats another 10cm from 2013-2014 seasons!!

I've almost always ridden men's skis, for no other reason than I prefer the feel. I think I've only ever had one pair of women's specific skis, the rest have all been men's or unisex. I just love the firmness, it allows for more control and stabilization but that's just my experience. Personally, I don't notice the stiffness to be anything that I can't flex, I've noticed I get more natural pop due to the fact that the skis aren't "noodling" around. You can get flex out of most skis by leverage. Plus men's skis usually have cooler graphics for whatever reason, not that it matters...

I love my Moment PB&J's to death and those are unisex, awesome pop, lightweight, durable. Armada AR7, marketed more towards men, love them, good flex and pop. I just got the new Line Honey Badgers but it's still a bit rocky for my comfort to test them. So far those seem firm but good flex in the right zones of the ski.
