tommorw me and my friends are going to get snow from the skateing rink and i was wondering how much time we would have to slide the rail befor there was no snow and if there was anything that helped not melt as fast

hey i have a pink chair

yes but if you use it on big piles of snow it causes it to melt and refreeze makes snow rock hard they use it on our jumps in the park around spring.

The Olson twins are Michelle you sick little baby fuckers.

The Jews invented tornados.

um.....there is already a chemical in it that keeps it cold at 50 degrees.....dont eat the snow though

salt is a catalyst. it will speed up any process which is taking place. like when you boil water and noodles you put in a pinch of salt. it speeds up the boil. there wont really be a refreezing process so i dont really think it will help.

no he doesnt know his shit...why would every summer ski camp salt their lanes to solidify the snow? they do it because it works...they wouldnt waste the thousands of dollars on hundreds and hundreds of fifty pound bags of the shit...

seriously think about it. when your on 4 feet of glacier its a bit different of course the snow may re freeze or slow down because when it melts it goes to more ice thats been cold the whole time. but whne there is only 5 to 8 inches of snow in 60 degree weather it will still be different.

as long as the layer of snow is more than about an inch think than use salt. The only hting not to do is put salt on the ground first. Not that we have tried this but we tried to do a rail where they put salt on the ground earlier that day and it never worked and was a huge waste of time.

OF COURSE THINK ABOUT IT...jeebus shit man...go fucking get some snow or shit from an ice rink, slap it in front of you and sprinkle some fuckin salt on it...SEE WHAT HAPPENS...dont fucking try to play smarter than me...your just speculating, i know the facts, its called experience.

^ wisest thing I have heard in a while. Got news - all the time that you were asking - your SNOW MELTED WHILE YOU WERE WAITING!

it's not normal table salt, it's special solar salt, and yes astopms a fuck up and yes the salt melts the top layer of snow which then refreezes and makes it harder... but is not regular salt either.

Christ. Ok, its Calcium Chloride, not Sodium Chloride, but whatever. A 'salt' is a 'salt' no matter what 2 ions its made of. If you don't know what this means at all, go ask your science teacher at School. What it does is lower the melting temperature of water to keep you from falling on your ass on the front steps. (The ice melts when its colder, get it?)

Here we go - that means that the snow is melting faster, because it can melt at a lower temperature. A 10% salt solution can melt at -6 instead of 0. The salt draws the water from the ice due to that whole gradient of a solution thing.

The salt draws the water out from the ice, and makes the water effectively thinner. This helps to then bond the ice crystals. The goal here is not to make the ice last longer, but to make it harder and faster. The salt speeds up the melting, makes the ice harder by bonding the crystals, and there you go. Faster snow.

So with all that said - HOW BORING IS ALL THAT? Go ride and don't sweat it.

astomp17 salt does not make water boil faster man. it raises the boiling of the water. which means it takes more energy to get it boiling, which means it takes longer to boil. people put salt in the water to allow the water to be hotter at its boiling point, so it cooks stuff faster.

i think i think i like it like thata

what i ment i just didnt know how to say it ...cooks it faster i think i need to go back to science anyone wanna host a class.
