POSITION SUMMARY:

Ready to be the voice of one of the biggest up-and-coming ski communities?

Tourism Rossland in conjunction with RED Mountain Resort in Rossland, B.C., is looking for a creative and responsible individual with a great sense of humor to be the new Media Content Manager. This individual will have at least 1-2 years experience managing and leading a company’s social thumbprint and be active/involved in the ski/snowboard industry.

The Media Content Manager will work collaboratively with the RED Mountain Marketing Team and the Executive Director of Tourism Rossland. The position will assist RED Mountain and Tourism Rossland in promoting each company’s both individual and overlapping goals/messages while maintaining and aligning the voice with each respective brand. This person will play a key role in engaging and building upon respective core audience groups through multiple social media channels while ensuring consistency in voice and brand. This is a contract position.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Day-to-day oversight, managing, and shaping of RED Mountain Resort’s and Tourism Rossland’s respective global social media platforms, including idea generation, writing content, scheduling, posting, campaign launching, tracking and reporting.

Be the digital “eyes and ears” of the brands and continue to build an overall reputation that is aligned with the organisations’ branding guidelines and policies

Participate and moderate online conversations pertaining to both RED and Tourism Rossland. Answer comments, concerns, and questions through all necessary social channels.

Research new platforms and tools for engagement, and lead and/or assist with the creation and execution of activations.

Create your own quality content to post and share through appropriate channels using photography and video (big bonus) from out on the mountain or in town during events and epic powder days!

Research and interpret viral trends (such as topics, popular info-graphics, images, videos, etc.) and find the best trends that relate to RED and/or the industry, to share with the team to help drive and shape social strategy with RED’s and Tourism Rossland’s audience.

Research, write, edit and proof editorial content for mainly social media needs as well as some other online and offline needs such as newsletters, webpages, and print pieces.

Work with both Marketing Teams to present and develop strategy and best practices to improve and optimize current social media platforms.

Analyze and provide bi-weekly reports to help shape social media strategy and measure success for individual campaigns as well as general outreach.

Assist with distributing timely and accurate information

Provide on-site assistance with Marketing events and activations.

Create content for regional activities such as hockey games and any other Greater Rossland/Trail community events.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have Canadian Citizenship, Permanent Residency status or an already obtained work permit status.

Degree in Journalism, Communication, PR, or Marketing preferred

Minimum 1-2 year’s social media management experience in either an agency or brand/business.

Understanding of best practices to communicate and connect audiences to a brand through multiple channels while properly optimizing those channels from a brand perspective.

Good sense of humor and knowledgeable of latest online trends

Passion for the Ski and snowboard world

Video and video editing skills

Photo editing and photography skills

Knowledge of the ski/snowboard industry and their online presences

Knowledge and strong experience with social media platforms

(including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, Vine, Pinterest, etc.)

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Ability to work under and meet deadlines

Ability to prioritize and demonstrate flexibility when handling multiple projects from different managers

Ability to work weekends or evenings when needed (special events, powder days, etc.)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver)

HTML, CSS experience

High quality digital camera gear

Applicant would own laptop capable of handling, processing and editing videos, photos, etc

COMPENSATION:

This is a contract position, pay rate will be dependent on experience

Season Pass at RED Mountain Resort

Tickets to ALL RED Mountain & Tourism Rossland Events (concerts, beer festivals, etc.)
