Mechanical Testing of Skis

I am just curious as to what testing is performed on skis before they are released to the market. I built a pair of skis for my Senior Engineering project and we performed a 3-point flex test, water absorption test, abrasion test on the the base, impact test... etc. Just wondering what goes into the design/testing of the ski.

Don't remember the company/video, but I saw a video of a "slap" test where they attached a ski to a mechanical arm and it swung down onto some metal.

And I guess if you need data to put on to paper then some forms of mechanical testing are fine; but at the end of the day though the best method of testing is getting the skis under the feet of a capable skier.

yeah, usually they do a slap, flex, and sometimes a drop
