Meadows Closing Day.. Suggestions for next year

meadows closing day was clearly pretty abrupt and for most of us who have skied there all season, we can agree that some of the ways they maintained their parks throughout this year was pretty poor, ending with an abysmal attempt at creating a superpark. the best way for them to improve next year is provide them with enough constructive criticism as possible so they can make the changes that could easily be done. i've written alot in matt's blog, but doesn't seem to make a difference. anywho. rather than complaining about meadows and how they cut the season short, i was thinking we can use this thread to compile criticism of what meadows did with their parks this year and how it can easily be fixed.

some things to start off:

how long it took them to setup even a few good rails/ boxes/ jibs - while most of their good rails have been off to the side of easy rider for the whole season - finally by the end they set up the 60ft DFD and high cascade FD. if they have intent so set up rails like these, there's no reason not to set them up as early as possible in the season. while it would be ideal for them to set up alot more of the tight rails that are off on the side of the easy rider lift pole, it seems like that would be too much to ask of matt

post what you think. lets make this work..

they should make parks that are obviously meant for different levels of experience. have one beginner park, a medium park, hard park, and an expert park. and even label them at the entrance as that so that little kids dont come in the bigger parks and make everyone wait for nothing...

i second this, some people might recall earlier this year when i hit a chick below the hrm stepdown. she had no business being near that park. more rails and jibs for sure! i was learning alot this year, and when i wanted to step up to some harder stuff, it wasnt there. thats really all i would do, besides getting some skiers on the park crew...

jakes right, the blog is shit. go talk to people in person last week I went and yelled at Directer of operations woody and told them to open easy rider because it was to crowded, and he actually took my advice and opened it. Next season i think i am going to stop in every day i am up there and just tell him how i think they are doing that day good or bad.

if it sucks next season ima complain every day and get everyone i know to complain...they got a new general manager that sucks

Hello! Meadow's parks are actually very fun. Sure they are small, but they give you somethin to trick around on and it makes you that much better when you hit up sick parks like Breck, Keystone, PC, Whis, ETC.

But Meadows park's are NOT fun ENOUGH! No they are not. Indeed no. That is because in order to hit these aforementioned "fun" features, one must skip EVERY OTHER FEATURE in the god DAMN PARK. i.e. HRM step up, Easy Rider step up. Furthermore, one had to sit down like none other just to clear some minuscule little diddlers on HRM.

Therefore, my recommendation is that Mt. Hood Meadows ski resort consider transplanting their parks to locations such as: steep runs, steeper runs, Shooting Star, under MHM, ETC.

P.S. Rails are meant to be set in a line with the same SLOPE. Not a scatter plot. Linear. Flow, not entropy. What I mean is, don't put your rails next to each other. Find a long, flow-like wave that some might call a run, and stick them on that wave one after another, taking into account fall-line, ETC. Maybe, the Ridge Run Rail Wave Rider's Rendezvous. Yes, put a rail line on Ridge Run. Yes, I'm a little flowy right now. Deal with it.

we should all be hippies sit in a circle with a bong on the first day meadows open right in the main walkway and protest. yaya

Post personal notes on the GM's door, alot of them (enough to cover his door). that and just straight up confrontation with the managment. It's fucking rediculous how early they closed and how unanounced it was. I didn't know until last sunday which was the closing day. This isn't to say that I didn't have one hell of a season up there this winter though but there needs to be some changes.
