Mayrhofen or Les Deux Alpes

Taking 350 students skiing the second week in december. Know quite a bit about these two resorts but wanted some personal opinions. Spending the summer season in deux alpes but not been to Mayrhofen. Any pros/cons on these two resorts?=k for legit answers

Mayrhofen is meadows, so means they can cover snow a lot easier, and the actual skiing starts a lot higher due there being no ski out, unless you go to Ahorn, L2A is huge (so is Mayrhofen), but Les Deux Alpes does have a ski out, which would be good if you with students, as getting 350 students on the Penken-Bahn(think its called that) lift at the end of the day may be a little stressful.

To be completely opposite there isn't much in it for either resorts, both have a lot of every terrain and both have good snow cover early season due to being very high altitude.

Cons - Mayrhofen

- Start of day lift lines

- End of day lift lines

- Weather can be a bit hit and miss (as stupid as it sounds)

- Confusing parts as the piste maps aren't very straight forward (I ended up going to Finkenberg like 2km away and had lost my dad, pretty scary when I was 16 and had to get a taxi with these random Russian people who paid for me /claim)

Cons - Les Deux Alpes

- French people

- Maybe not much ski down in mid December (don't go by word though)

- Easy to loose people

- Winter park actually sucks if I'm honest

You will have no problem with either of these resorts though to be fair, sorry if I sound contradicting in this rant by some of the things I've said.

Having not been to either in the winter i cant help much with resort specifics but i will agree with the cons of lda being full of french people and there should be a pro of mayrhofen being in austria. Your general austrian punter will be far nicer and same with the shops etc. ive got friends who have done seasons in deux alpes and have really enjoyed it and continue to go back every year so must be doing something right with their park.

I have a question too: My friend is going to Switzerland in July and wants to know which is better for park Laax or Zermatt, Laax also has the "freestyle academy" which is a reason to go there, but what do you guys think is better for park Laax or Zermatt?

Yeah I seemed to be a harsh on there park, it's good, but when compared to Mayrhofen park its nothing special, and when I've been in there winter there isn't much choice to be honest.

Havn't you thought about going to Vars ? It has one of, if not, the largest park in Europe. It's my home mountain so if ever you have any questions feel free to ask. Having said that, the park isn't complete in december.

Made our decision and are going to Mayrhofen. I went to Saalbach/Hinterglem in April and the Austrian vibe i sick and is refreshingly different to the French feeling......However, Val T at easter is a constant and imo cannot be rivalled by any resort in the end of european season!

i've been to both, and done student trips to both, mayrhofen is prob best if you want the "party" vibe, but when we went last december both parks were shut, which was pretty lame. so if i were to chose between the two it would be 2 alpes
