I know this is a ski forum and all, and thus, I'm probably speaking to an audience that is possibly largely apathetic to this kind of thing but I encourage you Calgarians that are of voting age to take part in this year's mayoral election.

Municipal politics affect you more directly than provincial and federal and is really a chance for you to have a say in what direction you want your city to go in. This may even include skiing related things such as better public transport to COP.

On that note, I specifically encourage you to look at Naheed Nenshi as a candidate. His website is as follows. www.nenshi.ca He is a candidate with some actual substance and ideas, not just "I'm gonna lower taxes, increase services, help the homeless and reduce crime." BUMP. This is this week! Sim, this post was incredibly prescient - Naheed has gone from 8% support to a 3 way tie with the other two candidates.

Everyone make sure you vote, whoever you vote for... though preferably, VOTE NENSHI and make sure your friends vote too!
 
I'm from Airdrie and our mayoral elections are in a few days except all the candidates are turds.

Did last night, plan to go to all the late shows but the extent to which I can do the afterparties is in question, gotta work the weekend as well.
 
I kinda forgot I posted that. Good to see some interest here and especially for Naheed. I didn't really believe it at first, but he may well pull it off. Rightfully so.
 
I find it really hard to take Naheed seriously with his ads on facebook are between "easy new weight loss method" and "study at Athabasca University". I guess he has successfully gotten my attention but something seems off about them.
