What kind of metal would I need to make a quality rail, Like a 4 or 5 inch wide flat rail, and what type of welding is needed and type of welder. I want to make a quailty rail like they have at parks, and from there on make harder ones.

welding is not hard but a 2x4 rail(hallow)cost a lot of money, like $150 for 20ft

any into on a welder, I might be able to get my hands on one, but it might not be able to weld this thick of steal.
