Material for a box top

alright i bet this has been asked a few times, but i couldnt find anything on the search. whaats a good material to put on a box? is there anywhere you can buy thin sheets of plastic for cheap?
 
use that Lexan shit... its kinda pricy buy its by far the best option... don't use plexyglass... it will break, also i would'nt reccomend metal.. it doesn't slide that great
 
NO! anyone who says lexan is just reading what other threads say. DO NOT USE LEXAN!!! for the people who recommended lexan hadnt actually used it some guy at home depot prob told em to us it. so they say its good, then others agree cause they wanna have input but dont wanna argue with someone who seems to know what they are talking about, now everyones saying lexan but no ones ever used it! and guess what! i end up bein the first person to use it pay alot and realize it SUCKS! yes it slides its not terrible but there are MUCH MUCH better options. use UMHW, or even better HDPE pvc slides like butter too pvc sheet it kinda pricey but it and HDPE are the best. my box still works but i may pay another 60 bucks to re surface it with HDPE cause a diff box i built with that slides like a dream, and its cheaper. if you do for some reason find some extra lexan polycarbonate on ur hands get some board wax and scrub the shit outta it thatll make it much better but you have to do it every few weeks or months and thats annoying.
 
ohhh and sorry for the lack of periods and commas and such in that paragraph thingy. I kinda get an idea in my mind and start typeing really fast. Then all of a sudden i realize its like, two sentences, and extremly hard to read. ohhh and you didnt use the search bar, search "topsheets" and tell me nothing comes up. or box tops
 
my friends dad used to work for a company that made this bullet proof lexan shit like for the pope mobile and he got us some and it works wicked good...so it may be expensive i dont no but its def. good
 
maybe i just got some shitty lexan. if you want the stuff many resorts use thats white and super slidey thats hdpe. lexan is clear and almost no resorts use a clear topsheet. I asked the park manager of okemo what their topsheets are and he wouldnt tell me. politics politics. its hdpe though i can tell

i like how he said "i searched but nothing came up" even though he didnt search very well he did search. and yet you all are saying "SEARCH BAR" without even giving him a direction on what to search for. try simply searching box, and then narrow down your search with some various results you get.
