Market tumbling

Anyone else get crushed today? Got paid yesterday and put my daily investing amount into the markets...still drastically up past few years but taking a serious beat down today
 
The news says its caused by "increasing tensions in Russia"..... like that hasn't been going on for months.

Nope in IB....but will be buying more tonight for tomorrow. I always buy big dips and more or less have done pretty well doing it.

I bet the worst part of being a day trader is doing your taxes at the end of the year. That has to be horrible.

In other news, yes the stock market goes up and down. Nothing new...
 
Hopefully nothing too wild happens. I want to grab some silver when I get back to the states now that it's back down semi low again.
 
I was up 25% on a gopro trade (im a finance wonk, not a fanboy, bought a big dip off barron's false news report that GoPro's suck), but got smoked today. Got out early enough to salvage a 14% gain in a few weeks, but still blows.

Waiting for Monday to be greedy when others are fearful (if you get that quote, internet high 5 to you!).
 
That GoPro trade sucks too, beat on revenue and EPS, and raised guidance, and still down big on valuation fears. Feels like getting a bad beat on pocket kings in poker. horseshit.

Im long go pro going for a while. Think about it...movies, tv shows, everyone uses go pros. They eventually will start diversifying products / making much higher end things. Only a matter of time.
 
I'm not too worried. Earnings have been strong and all the general economic factors are indicating continued recovery (GDP was up 4% in Q2 for christ sake). I think we were due for a correction, thats what yesterday was, market pretty much went sideways today, and I think it'll rally again through august. I'm still bullish. If you're long in the market, this is a good thing. Dips breed opportunity.

this is probably false because they said they wanted to become more of a media company and try and distance themselves from the hardware game.
 
Is there an investing cult on NS? If so, I assume someone in this thread is a mod and I would appreciate an invite. I don't work in the finance industry or anything but I'm a very conscientious individual investor.
