Marker Free Ten Binding

Can anyone tell me about these bindings? They claim to be "freeride" bindings, but i'm not sure if they would be well suited on a park ski.

Let me know what you think, thanks

Like any 10-DIN binding, they are mainly a plastic binding that is not very durable. If you weigh 100 lbs and not skiing hard at all, then they could be a good option for you. But if you weigh more than 100 lbs and are looking for something durable and long lasting, then you will want to look at bindings that are 12 or 14-DIN. A higher DIN binding will give you a more durable construction, just check with your local shop to see if the DIN range works for you.

I appreciate the response.... I weigh 125, and have never used a binding with a DIN set at higher than 8... I never have problems popping out too often, and I ski more aggressively than most poeple . However, since these will be a park ski, I can understand what you mean about having a higher DIN setting, and that makes sense.

I do a lot more hiking and touring than I do park skiing, but I wanted to get a park set up.

I have a pair of Look PX 12 bindings, but the brakes ALWAYS break when I hit a rail. The one thing I noticed about the Free Ten was that the brake is twice as sturdy as the Looks. What do you think?

I wasn't recommending skiing at a higher DIN, just that when you buy a higher DIN binding that you get a more durable construction. If you ski at a DIN of 8, then a 14 DIN binding (typically) will accommodate your setting since many 16 DIN bindings begin their range at 9. 12 DIN bindings are where things start to get more durable but you will appreciate the nicer constructions found on 14 or 16 DIN bindings, provided they accommodate your DIN of 8.

Brakes are always something that can break and are one of the weak points of the binding on purpose. It's better to bend a break than damage the heel housing of the binding itself. With that said, the new STH2 binding from Salomon/Atomic has brakes that sit up and out of the way better than other bindings, but you'll have to wait until next fall to get those.

Thanks for your input, I appreciate your insight. I am going to send the Free Tens back and get something a little beefier. Thanks again

DONT get the marker free bindings. I have the marker free 12.0 and have had to replace my brakes/heel piece 4 times and iv only got 15 days in this season. look into Salomon STH, or Rossi FKS
