Mark Abma Appreciation Thread

I just saw Claim and was totally impressed and reminded of how good a skier mark abma is. I think he is the best all around ski and seems like a completely down to earth guy that is super chill. So post up your props for Mark Abma for killing it

Yeah he was sick in Claim and Reasons as well. I have a Warren Miller movie from some years back that has (I think) his first time heli skiing or something in it.

I like the part in claim where someone is talking about him an says something like "yeah, I'm going to hit that line, it shouldn't be too hard. Its just a quadruple stager with an 800 foot cliff at the end and that tree is on fire, but its cool I'll just rip it out of the ground and eat it."

Him and Tanner, two most well rounded skiers ever. I think I'll buy his pro model next year. Should be SICK.

He is my favorite skier. So good in the BC and throwing tricks in his lines and in the park. I like how he goes unnoticed and then when you see a video or segment of him you remember how sick he is

Mark has alays been one of my favorite skiers...he just kills it everywhere!

So stoked on the 2 stage cliff line where Abma does a 3 off the first into the second cliff in Reasons.( The last last shot of his segment) If you haven't paid attention to this shot... just realize how sketchy this is and how hard he stomps it!

My favorite skier, if i could pick any pro to ski like it would be him, and hes so down to earth and chill, doesn't look for the spotlight like alota pros. I heard that at a ski camp (forget which one) a friend of mine went to he wouldnt even stay in the room if a segment of his came on in a ski movie because he didn't want the attention, so chill.

The first time I met Abma, he let me borrow his bike to go shred the whistler bike park. Sure enough, I broke his bike, and he was so chill about it. I got it covered by warranty and he was like "yeah buddy, no worries"

His skiing speaks for itself--RIPPER!

definitely one of my favorite skiers, he kills it everywhere. i got to thinking that he was a bit underrated, but then i remember that hes won "skier of the year" multiple times. he always puts up a good segment too, mad props to him.

and thanks for making this thread, its well deserved.

In SSD you really apreciate him and Claim more so. In SSD you see how rounded he is and in the india segy you see it chill factor which makes him a super down to earth guy. Also the Salamon videos about whistler really made me a proud fan

Hell yeah Mark Slays. Dear his sponsors: You should give him more money because hes one of the major reasons you guys get money.

i gotta say the same. hes gotta be one of the best all around skiers out there, he slayys big mountain, backcountry and park... MAD PROPS

i like how people say things like that.... i'd say it's totally unfounded though. He's had the opening segment for how many MSP videos? gone on exclusive trips to places like Golmarg, India and gets 'er done. not to mention he's what, the only pro this year to get two segments without using the same footage? Oh yea, and he's had interviews in almost all magazines out there, including one this year in Powder where he got the cover shot as well.

It's like when I had that thread about the dudes like Pierre dropping the big cliffs and some people were like "seth and hugo don't get enough recognition" what, you mean other then the fact that they're some of the most respected and admired skiers ever?

such a chill guyjust the way he talks makes me laugh for some reasoni still remember when he crashed and his ski hit his facehe had so many stitches it was fucked

I've recognized him as really good since Focused. After Yearbook though, I've always looked at him as one of my favorite skiers. He's a BC local, super chill, and an amazing skier. I love his style in the BC as well.

yeah, Abma is so talanted it's crazy.

I just love his style. I watched his Claim segment like 10 times when flying to the states.
