Man I Hate Microsoft....

So I purchased a new computer recently and it came preloaded with Vista and all that junk. I dont know, maybe I am just a newbie to this whole computer thing but it comes with a damn trial version of Microsoft Word and it makes you convert to a full version of Word 2007 that comes out to $167.00. Maybe I am just in a pissy mood with finals and college shit...but that shelling out an insane amount for Microsoft Word just did not make my night...thanks NS for letting me vent.

Yeah I would not have been pissed if I didn't feel like I just pissed away 167 bones....but you live and you learn...hindsight is always 20/20 for sure

aaaaaa that sucks. i just got a new computer and it already had microsoft office on it. so somewhere around here i got the CD sitting around for all of them that my mom bought.

just wait a bit...windows vista is also so fuckin annoying. every time u click on anything it will ask you if you are sure that is what u wanted to click, or if ur running software it makes u check like 100000000000000000 times to make sure u really want to run the software...omg its annoying

Dude, make friends with a Chinese kid. This one at my school gave me a bootlegged copy of Office 2004. It works perfect, it even passes those Microsoft Genuine Software tests they make you do. Oh, and it's in English...

haha yeah, someone offered me vista premium + office for 100 bucks. i didn't do it cause i already have open office and i don't really need vista, but it's still a sick deal.

Ya that isn't even a legitimate reason to buy a mac. If you want Office for either Mac or PC you have to pay for it, if you want a legit copy at least.

But then again, 3/4 of the people on here just have Macs cause they are the new 'in' thing and don't even use them for what they are good for. If they want to spend the extra money I guess that is their choice though.

o rly? how is owning a mac going to solve the problem?

I don't see that having to pay for someones software that they developed is unreasonable.. especially when there are legit free options available

Do you know how much work goes into software development? Its really fucking hard and the high prices for software are definitely justified.

With that being said, you got screwed if you paid 167 for just Word. The student edition of Office is like 200 I think and at must schools they give it to you at an even greater discount (mine was only 15). At least you learned to do a little research before you buy something next time.

It's alright no big deal....I was just stressing with finals and exams...now that it's over...I lost some money but I really could care less

Indeed they are, I'm just not going to pay them because i don't have to. Ill let schools, business and chumps pay for it so that I can have it for free, hurray!

I'm glad I have a copy of Office at my house, so it was no problem to install it for freeee.

But realistically, students get it pretty cheap (if not free). Compared to other software, it's super reasonable.

And to that one chick, how the fuck does buying a mac solve the issue of having to buy office? I know others have asked the very same question, but still. Last time I checked, apple hasn't developed anything nearly as universal as Office... so.... yea...

whenever i build a new computer/reinstall, i just have my brother get me office and stuff for free from his school's website. sucks that my school doesn't do that but whatever
