Forget the panel talks and endless music showcases -- the biggest cheers at South by Southwest's technology and interactive festival yesterday were reserved for world champion eater Takeru Kobayashi, who wowed crowds in Austin by chowing down 13 grilled cheese sandwiches in 60 seconds. The improbably svelte Kobayashi, wearing a sleeveless GroupMe tee, enters a tent to cheers of "Kobi!" Only 25 seconds into the one-minute challenge, Kobayashi breaks the existing world record (of three) -- and finishes with a total of 13 grilled cheeses. Setting records is nothing new for Kobayashi: Last month he broke the record at Philadelphia's Wing Bowl for eating 337 chicken wings.

Other world-eating records held by Kobayashi include 17.7 pounds of cow brains in 15 minutes and 20 pounds (9 kg) of rice balls in 30 minutes. On June 25, 2007, Kobayashi announced on his blog that he seriously injured his jaw during training. He stated that he could only open his jaw about the width of a fingertip. On January 23, 2012. Kobayashi went on The Wendy Williams Show to set the record for eating the most Twinkies in one minute, for the "Save The Twinkie" campaign, and set a new world record of 14 Twinkies.
 
haha i remember his hotdog eating shit being all over sportscentre a few years back. him and some other dude were just going nuts, half puking, half choking them down like animals. kinda fuckin gross..
