so basically I'm tryna make this shit as cheap as possible

so who's got a free car, ikon pass, and house to stay at!!!!????

Lesss Gooo! also who can pay for my flight? :D

but actually is there a bus that takes people from la to mammoth and what can I bring on it, I'm trying to fly but gas for my car would be a little more than plane tickets, and my shit prolly gonna blow up on the side of the road, is it worth it to drive?

This is obviously a joke but it is fully possible to leave your current situation with like 2 grand, a tent and your ski shit. you can get ikon base and blackout dates won’t apply to mammoth this summer for $700 if you under 23 and can camp for free. You would essentially just be roaming around mammoth lakes homeless eating pb&js and cereal but skiing all summer is the main point.

Damn i can't get a campsite then? this is a bad idea then. I am serious about going but I can barely trust my car to make it to school rn.

I worded that bad, ikon is cheaper if you not a full adult yet but i’m like 90% there are a bunch of places you can just post up a tent for free with no age requirement

you dont need a campsight. Most camping is FS or BLM land. Free. Id suggest snagging a month long onX membership so you're confident you're in the right spots.

Whats your car? It can be tough to get around on the east side of 395 to camp spots without an okay amount of clearance. Most of the ones on the scenic loop should be accessible in smaller cars though. At least in my experience.

Camping wont really be possible without a car though. Youre outside walking distance to the mountain for the most part. Unless you find someone to camp and drive you to the mountain it would be pretty tough. Hitchiking might work okay if you are on the scenic loop.

if you're able to make it to Reno, EST runs busses from reno to mammoth with a couple transfers.https://www.estransit.com/routes-schedule/

I might head down once more this year from reno. But itd probably only be for a day so you'd be SOL once I dropped ya off.

so basically it'll cost me $700 to get there paying for premium with 20mpg and thats if i can get on the highway

so I'm probably going to wait for next year

I'll probably leave it on stock suspension from the winter, appreciate the help though I'm really trying to get out there sometime soon
